Volvo’s next-generation L30 compact wheel loader delivers maneuverability, versatility and comfort for contractors working in material-handling, landscaping and municipal applications.
The L30 runs on a 74-horsepower Volvo engine, comes with a 1.3-cubic-yard bucket and has a fork payload of 2.4 tons.
It offers a tip load of approximately 9,000 pounds at full turn, and nearly 10,000 pounds straight.
In the video above, Volvo CE Product Manager Darren Ashton gives us a tour of the compact wheel loader at the 2025 ARA Show.

Key features and upgrades include:
Simplified Operation: A 7-inch display with a jog dial replaces many of the buttons that were previously found on the machine’s dashboard.
Attachment Versatility: Auxiliary hydraulics and an 8-pin connector allow the loader to be used with a wide range of work tools, including sweepers and milling machines.
Traction and Stability: The L30 has 24 inches of ground clearance. To increase traction, Volvo uses a combination of an articulating oscillating joint and 100% differential locks on both axles.
Ground-Level Maintenance: Maintenance points are accessible from the rear, and refueling requires the hood to be opened, ensuring checks are conducted regularly.
Visibility and Safety: A lowered exhaust stack improves rear visibility, while dual-side cab access and anti-slip steel steps enhance operator safety.

Today we're going to talk about our newest addition to a compact wheel loader family, the L 30. We call it the H mob. Both the L 30 and L 35 are in that 74 horsepower class, with a 1.2 to 1.4 yard bucket on the front, depending on which model you choose.

I'm Darren Ashton, the product manager for North America for compact equipment at Volvo Construction Equipment. As we take a look at the cab, a lot of advancements has happened inside of us, including getting rid of a lot of the buttons in the dash. We managed to do that by using the seven inch Alva screen with a jog. It makes it a lot easier for showing people how to use different options, and it also helps a lot when you're trying to get different attachments on the front of the machine other than, say, a bucket or a set of forks, because you may use this for a sweeper or may use it for a milling machine.

There's all different kinds of things, including a material handling arm that you can handle. This has about 9,000 pounds of chip weight at full turn, a little bit higher, close to 10,000 when you're looking at straight tip. If you look underneath the machine, one of the nice things about the L 30 is we have 24in of clearance. We obtain that by having portal axles on both the front and the rear of the machine.

And those axles are full diff locks. There are dog clutch. So you have 100% locking capability of that machine. Much like before we have an articulation and oscillation joint in this machine. And that helps us in a couple ways. One, if allows the operator sit on a stable part of the machine where the movement is going to happen here in front of a plus.

It also allows us not to have a moving axle in the back, which helps us on the maintenance side, so you don't have to have people crawl under the machine to do some greasing or stuff. If that rear axle is moving as we move along to the back of the machine, one of the nice features I find is we still incorporate steel steps, and on top of these steps we put an anti-slip surface on it so we can clean the back window.

Need to have clean windows and the wiper only cleans so much so it allows you to stand up there nice and safely. A good solid surface with no deflection happening at the fender area. As we move to the back of the machine, we're able to, in the H-series, reduce the height of the exhaust stack. It's much shorter now, gives us a lot better visibility to the back of the machine, as in before our engine sits right at the back.

Here we have a hydrostatic pump, and then over here we have actually two gear pumps that runs the steering and hydraulics independently. So you don't have to worry if you're using forks that you're going to get a variance in that speed. If you're trying to steer to correct your fork tines. It's been very easy maintenance. Your starter, your oil filter, oil fuel washer bottle and windshield washer bottle is all easily accessible in the back.

It is sometimes difficult to get operators to lift the hood, and we have fixed that by making sure that you have to fill the machine by lifting the hood. And that also gives us a nice advantage that you don't have to have a locking cap separate key for your fueling. We've also in the H model, changed the strategies a little bit on a reversing cooling fan, which we can set up for different timings depending on your application.

A door on each side for safety so you can get out of the machine on both sides, which some municipality bits will require you to have this. And we also stick a nice tool box right up front here, which is easy access so you don't have to put your chains different things that you use on a daily basis inside of your cab, making it maybe a little more dirty and obstructing the area around your feet.
00:04:14:03 - 00:04:35:18

As we continue to go to the front still fenders another one of those things up front as well. On this machine here, we have a 1.2yd³ bucket with a skid steer coupler. The L 30 is available with the skid steer coupler on the front of it. If you have skid steer attachments in the past, this is where our auxiliary hydraulic fuckup is.
00:04:35:20 - 00:04:57:25

We have also added this model. It's an eight pin electrical harness, so you can plug in some attachments that may require an electrical circuit. What we have developed for this machine is a set of pallet forks that has time shifts and also time movement that can all be activated from inside of the cab.
