AED Foundation begins road show featuring workforce initiatives

The Associated Equipment Distributor’s Foundation is hitting the road, visiting all of its accredited colleges to discuss its new workforce initiatives, network with students and dealer members and distribute rebranded materials.

The foundation works with schools, industry and government to “create a pipeline of qualified diesel technicians,” says Marty McCormack, associate director of development and workforce. The AED Foundation’s three focus areas—accreditation, career promotion and research—are “aimed at cultivating an abundant and stable supply of trained employees for the heavy equipment industry,” says the group. The group recently introduced a new branding campaign and logo.

AEM honors 29 companies for “superior participation” in market data reporting

Twenty-nine companies who have shown “superior participation” in data-reporting programs are being honored by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

“Our statistics programs are member-driven, and we applaud the dedication of our award winners,” says Rex Sprietsma, AEM director of statistics.

“They help ensure AEM delivers optimum value with consistent, accurate, and reliable market data that members can use for improved business forecasting and production planning.”

ASV adds Minn. dealer Northwoods to dealer network

Northwoods Hydraulic and Equipment is the newest addition to ASV’s dealer network.

The dealership based in Moose Lake, Minnesota, will sell all ASV Posi-Track compact track loaders, as well as its full line of skid steers.

Northwoods began in the early 2000s in a garage where it performed hydraulic cylinder and basic tractor repair. The family-owned business has expanded to include logging and construction equipment, small engines, diesel engine and transmission repair. It also serves as a distributor, dealer and factory-authorized service center for a variety of brands. Its territory includes St. Louis, Pine and Carlton counties.

Foley Equipment hires Burke as CIO

 

Joel Burke will be Chief Information Officer for Foley Equipment, based in Wichita, Kansas.

Cat 797 first truck in class to reach milestone of 1,000 made

 

The 1,000th Caterpillar 797 recently rolled off the assembly line, the only such mining truck in its size class to reach that milestone, according to the company.

The truck, which has been manufactured in Decatur, Illinois, since its inception in 1999, has a 400-ton payload capacity and is not only the largest truck Cat produces but the largest mechanical-drive mining truck in the world.

The truck is powered by a 20-cylinder quad-turbocharged Cat C175 engine producing an incredible 4,000 horsepower. (A 3,550-hp setting is available for use in applications that don’t require as much power.)
