JCB’s first-ever diesel-powered telescopic boom lift has arrived in North America, the new T65D.
Unveiled at the ARA Show, the boom lift features a 74-horsepower JCB 444 EcoMAX engine, 360 degrees of continuous rotation and a 1,000-pound platform capacity – enough to hold three workers in the basket throughout its full operating range.
The T65D has a platform height of 65 feet, 4 inches and a platform reach of 56 feet 6 inches.

High Lift Capacity
The T65D comes with a standard 8-foot basket with three access points. It can handle 1,000 pounds in the basket through 80 percent of its range and 600 pounds through 100 percent of the range. A solid cast counterweight provides greater strength and stability to balance loads.
Enhanced safety features, including a secondary guarding system, protect operators against overhead crush hazards.
Precise Control
The 7-inch touchscreen ground display and 5-inch color basket display show operators the total load as a percentage of capacity, so there is no guessing as to whether you need to remove a hammer or worker to get back within range when overloaded, says Product Manager Connor Stanmore.
A built-in diagnostics system on the touchscreen provides error codes for quick troubleshooting and improved uptime. Warning lights, fuel level and machine position are also displayed on the color screen. USB charging points come standard with the platform console.
The platform control box features a dial to control boom speed and proportional joysticks for basket control. This lets operators precisely control the lift near buildings or move with speed in open spaces.
If operators are stuck at height, manual controls can be used to lower the machine safely. The controls are protected under a cover to prevent accidental operation.
Foam-filled tires come standard for traction and stability in rough, uneven terrain. Available accessories include a pipe cradle and glazing kit. Additional accessories will be rolled out later this year.
Plenty of Power
Known for its high torque and low revs, the Tier 4 Final JCB 444 EcoMAX engine is common across JCB’s telehandler range but generously powered compared to other models on the market, Stanmore says. It does not require a DPF or DEF.
“Most telescopic boom lifts in this size class use a 40- to 50-horsepower engine. At 74 horsepower, the T65D has enough muscle to push through muddy terrain, steep grades and difficult underfoot conditions without bogging down and slowing work.”
For crews that deploy welders in the basket, the T65D uses the 7.5-kilowatt Harrison Hydra-Gen PTO-based hydraulic generator. Smaller, more compact, and lighter than engine-powered generators, the Harrison generator can run the welder at full power with no loss of speed or performance from the primary diesel engine, Stanmore adds.
All serviceable components have been pulled to the front of the machine for easy access. Self-lubricating bushings reduce the need for routine greasing.
Hydraulic fluid is run through steel pipework rather than hoses to reduce the risk of damage. The pipework is fitted in sections so it can be replaced for less cost and in less time if a section is damaged. The pipework is also covered with a shield for additional protection. All hydraulic hoses are color-coded for easier replacement and serviceability.
JCB Livelink telematics comes standard and monitors machine performance 24/7, and schedules service automatically.
