John Deere rolled out its next-gen motor graders at ConExpo 2026, outfitting the P-Tier models with new automation features, displays and updated cabs.
New P-Tier models include the 620, 622, 670, 672, 770, 772, 870 and 872. All models except the 870 and 872 are also available in Deere’s more basic G-Tier variants.

Inside the 772 P-Tier Motor Grader
The 772 P-Tier is powered by a 275-horsepower John Deere PowerTech diesel engine.
Costello says the foundation of the motor grader is Deere’s premium circle featuring a fully sealed bearing.
“We build all of our tech and all of our features off of this premium circle,” he says. “It’s going to stay nice and tight and accurate whether you’re running your blade in 2D, 3D or standard operation. You don’t have to worry about shimming and doing some of the adjustments that historically you would’ve had to do.”
The circle is paired with encoded cylinders equipped with a sensor that tells the machine the exact position of the blade.
Powered byAnother hallmark of the P-Tier lineup is flexible machine technology that can be upgraded at any time. Standard technology includes Cross Slope, SmartGrade Ready option, SmartGrade with Topcon and SmartGrade with Leica, return to straight, Auto-Articulation, Blade Flip, Machine Presets, lever steering, and choice between fingertip or joystick controls. Optional features include Machine Damage Avoidance, Auto-Pass, Smart Saddle and Intelligent Blade Control.
Inside the cab, operators will find an 8-inch touchscreen primary display, Automatic Temperature Control system, electro-hydraulic (EH) controls with standard steering wheel, centralized machine-function switches and an adjustable heated and ventilated air-ride seat.
A front camera allows operators to see down an alley or past a building without pulling the machine into the road. The front camera can be paired with the two rear cameras to further enhance the field of view, accessible on dedicated displays in the cab.

So I'm standing in front of Peter Motor Grader, and there's a couple things I want to highlight.

The first one being on the front we have our front alley cam. So this bracket up here has two cameras. And they point to the sides so that when you pull up to an intersection or you're pulling yourself out of a building, you're able to see down that alley and get yourself that view so that you're not having to pull the whole machine out into the road and understand what's coming your direction.

We compare that with our advanced vision system. There's two cameras on the rear end of the cab, and what that's going to do is pair with the rear camera and give you that field of view on the back side of the machine. So you have a lot of situational awareness and cameras, and there's dedicated displays in the cab that's going to give you each one of those views as you go down, as we move down on the machine.

One of my favorite features that I always have to highlight on this motor grader is our premium circle. This is a fully sealed bearing, and it's really the foundation of our motor grader. We build all of our tech, all of our features off of this premium circle. The only maintenance on this is simply grease it every 500 hours.

It's fully sealed bearing. We use rubber seals in there, so there's no material that's going to be able to get up in there, and it's going to stay nice and tight, nice and accurate. As you're running your blade and 2D, 3D or just standard blade operations, you don't have to worry about shimmying and doing some of the adjustments that historically you would have had to do with that.

We pair that with our encoded cylinders. So each one of our cylinders has a sensor in it. So we know the exact position of this blade as we go down the way. And that way we can put a lot of our features paired with our premium circle, our automation features, our smart grade features, and all the different things that we want to do to attack this motor grader and make sure that we're giving that operator the best chance they have to get up to speed faster as they roll.

The big thing on the motor grader is going to be the cab. So inside the cab, we've done a lot of things to make the operator comfortable, make
the operator more productive, and those operators that maybe don't have a ton of time in the motor grader, they now have a few features that they can do and adjust to help them get up to speed.

Get comfortable on the job site quicker. Some of the main things in here the seat. So this is our new premium seat. It's heated and ventilated. We've adjusted the armrest. So instead of having some of the adjustments from the past, you simply grab and you can slide up and down or slide forward to back. Given the operator a very easy opportunity to hop in and get themselves comfortable as they go, the air ride seat switch is right up next to your joystick, so as you need to update that throughout the day, you can press that button and adjust that.

And it's the simple things, simple things. Here we have a cup holder and a phone holder with a charging cord. Right next. Right next to it we have new displays. So our primary display in this is an eight inch touchscreen display. So it makes it very easy for that operator to reach over adjust. We've pulled the radio and the phone controls down into that display.

So instead of having to reach up and interact with the radio itself, they can simply go over and touch that on the display and maintain focus on what's in front of them with the job site and then with our automation features. So we've had automation for a while. Blade flip machine presets and auto articulation are all included in base on this machine, because we know the value that that adds to the customers.

We have some new features coming out with that though, so machine damage avoidance we've had now, as well as our auto pass, but now we're adding Smart Saddle. So what Smart Saddle does is it takes a lot of skills from an operator to be able to bank this blade and rotate it and kick it out to the side.

Smart saddle allows you just to press a button, and that blade will manipulate and roll out to the side on its own. And that's nice for the operator if they're doing any banking or ditching work. It's also nice for those technicians if they aren't familiar with the greater, but they're coming in to do, say, a cutting edge change over, they can press that button, kick it out to the side and make a nice.

The other one is intelligent blade control. So one of the top things for operators on motor graders is maintaining a flat level blade edge when they're running these machines. And what that's going to do for
intelligent blade control is as you manipulate the machine or steer, it's always going to make those slight adjustments to maintain that level cutting edge for that blade, which is really nice, because then the operator can focus on the job site at hands and start learning the controls themselves, instead of having to focus on all the things that are in a motor grader all at the same time, then we also have a feature called Cutting Edge where.

So each morning you can get in, you can set that down, gives you a readout in the display to tell you where you're cutting edges are at. So you can plan that cutting edge changeover within those system and track where you're cutting edges are at. See if you have, you know, heavy ware or different things and adjusts how you're going.

The star of the show really in this machine right now is our next generation of smart grade. So full 3D capabilities. We have our John Deere Construction G5 display. It's a ten inch touchscreen display. You can put 2D and 3D solutions on that at the same time. And we offer top ten and Leica from the factory. And we also have the ability for these plug and play 2D solutions so that you can take the motor greater and adapt to the job site and the project at hand.

The backside of our machine, we stuck with what we know is good. So serviceability ground level service, same side daily service checks. So we make it very easy for that operator to hop in, do those daily service checks and be able to go down and get the blade going in the morning.
