Volvo CE’s newest mini excavators hit the market earlier this year, and Equipment World got a closer look at the 4-metric-ton ECR40 at the 2024 ARA Show.
In the video above, Volvo CE’s Darren Ashton gives us a complete overview of the short tailswing machine that replaces the ECR40D.
The ECR40 runs on a 24.8-horsepower Volvo D1.7A diesel engine that does not require a diesel particulate filter to meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards.
Volvo designed the compact excavator's cab to be more spacious, ergonomic and quiet. The cab has slim pillars and wide flat glass areas for improved operator visibility. The 5-inch display controls many of the machine’s functions, including pattern control change and different hydraulic flows for attachments.
Wide engine and rear hood openings provide easy access to daily maintenance points.
The optional hydraulic thumb shown can increase the ECR40’s range of uses, such as lifting, piling, carrying, placing and loading.
