After a 20-year hiatus, Ram is re-entering the muscle truck segment with the introduction of its 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee lineup.

Four offerings with three V-8 engines will be available:

  • Rumble Bee with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, code name Eagle, producing 395 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 410 pound-feet of torque at 3,950 rpm.
  • Rumble Bee 392 with 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, code name Apache, delivering 470 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 455 pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm.
  • Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack with performance upgrades.
  • Rumble Bee SRT with a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine, code name Hellcat, cranking out 777 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, 680 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm and a top speed of 170 mph.

The trucks have an 8,890-pound towing capacity and up to 1,160 pounds of payload capacity.

The range debuts with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, with availability starting late 2026. The Rumble Bee 392 and Rumble Bee SRT arrive in the first half of 2027.

Ram discontinued production of its original muscle truck, the 8.4-liter V-10, 500-horsepower Ram 1500 SRT10 “Viper Truck” 20 years ago. Stellantis Head of American Brands Tim Kuniskis says that, while the reimagined line may seem “unnecessary” to some, pickup trucks can be more than work vehicles, especially for automotive enthusiasts.

"Today, Ram has a truck for every customer — from the work-ready Tradesman to full-blown luxury in Tungsten. That kind of range makes it hard to predict the second vehicle for a customer. But for muscle car owners, data proves it’s a pickup, and the connection has been staring us in the face since the era reignited almost two decades ago.

"Somehow, the idea of muscle trucks was labeled unnecessary, but since that describes so many products that captivated enthusiasts' hearts, minds and wallets, Ram is going all-in, pushing for the last 10th with a full range of Rumble Bee muscle trucks."

Every Rumble Bee model includes full-time active four-wheel drive, thanks to the Borg Warner 48-11 transfer case with a variable torque split in four-wheel drive. Designers also integrated a button next to the console shifter that disconnects the front axle for true rear-wheel-drive-only operation.

On the Rumble Bee, Rumble Bee 392 and Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack, horsepower is routed through Ram’s TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with both automatic and manual shifting capability controlled via aluminum paddle shifters or the G/T console shifter.

Rumble Bee 392 gets the same 250-milimeter rear axle with a 3.92 ring and pinion ratio as the entry-level model, while the Track Pack gains a drag-race-ready electronic spool differential that can electronically lock the axle to command an even torque split between both rear tires. An asymmetric limited slip differential will be an optional upgrade on both 392 variants.

The top-end Rumble Bee SRT must adhere to Ram’s SRT performance pillars of an “awe-inspiring powertrain, mission-specific chassis, performance interior / UX and function-driven exterior.”  Its Hellcat HEMI is the most powerful internal combustion engine ever offered in a production pickup, Ram says.

The Hellcat engine is paired with a more robust version of the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission capable of handling the additional power. An all-new cooling system manages engine coolant and oil temperatures, while the fascia design also allows more air to flow to the front brakes.

The rear axle also includes the electronic spool function to evenly distribute power to the rear tires while in rear-wheel-drive mode. An optional track-tuned asymmetric limited slip effectively distributes torque in track driving conditions.

With all that power under the hood, Ram says it needed the Rumble Bee handle “untrucklike,” and that meant reworking the frame for greater rigidity and response to driver inputs.

Ram engineers removed 13 inches of total length from the frame section behind the cab b-pillars, creating an exclusive Quad Cab/Short Bed combination. Supporting systems, including the driveshaft, wiring harness, fuel lines, brake lines and other connections, were also shortened to fit the modified truck.

The truck also gets a 6.8-inch wider stance compared to the standard Ram 1500, for increased stability, improved handling and a “menacing” look. performance shocks control compression and rebound and robust stabilizer bars limit sway to maintain traction during “high-G, spirited driving” conditions.

Two core suspension offerings are available on the on Rumble Bee and Rumble Bee 392: standard coil or optional air. Up front is an independent front suspension (IFS) coil system, while the rear solid axle is controlled by Ram’s five-link coil system. The optional four-corner air suspension replaces the coil springs at the same attachment points, providing a comfortable ride and automatic leveling when the truck is under load or hauling a trailer. The system can also lower the truck’s ride height for better aerodynamics at highway speed. The air suspension option is standard on the 392 Track Pack and SRT models.

Rumble Bee and Rumble Bee 392 are customizable with five different drive modes: auto, sport, snow, tow and custom. Each mode adjusts stability control, throttle mapping, braking and steering based on the task. 392 Track Pack and SRT add a dedicated track driving mode and power-limiting valet mode for a total of seven driver selectable options.

All models feature full-time active four-wheel drive and a “RWD” button. The 392 Track Pack and SRT get a separate electronic spool button to allow for “playful oversteer and smokey burnouts while in RWD mode,” plus a dedicated launch control button for competition-level starts. Aerodynamics were carefully considered to handle the 1,000 pounds of force impacting the front end of the truck at 170 mph, with several design elements and aids to manage airflow, including a rear spoiler and an optional, trifold, hard tonneau cover.

For the exterior design, the Ram team drew inspiration from 1960s Mopar visuals to create an updated Rumble Bee character as a nod to the company’s performance heritage. Optional bedside graphics are available on all variants to amplify the angry bee icon down the side of the truck.

The Rumble Bee and Rumble Bee 392 feature an aggressive front grille, premium front and rear LED lighting and widebody fenders. Available colors include Detonator Yellow, Molten Red and Ceramic Gray.

The lower truck does not require side steps and smaller mirrors keep the package compact. Wheels on the Rumble Bee and 392 measure 22 inches by 10 inches with 285/45R22 all-season tires. A 20-by-10-inch wheel with 305/50R20 all-season tires will be available following launch.

The 392 Track Pack and SRT are tougher and stockier while maintaining performance and aerodynamics priorities. Functional elements, like air intakes, a deep chin splitter and aggressive rear spoiler, add to the look and capabilities. Large lower grille openings, in place of a traditional steel bumper, further guide air through the racecar-style fascia to feed the induction chiller, brakes, radiator, transmission cooler and oil cooler. An optional matte black hood graphic reduces glare on the windshield for track driving.

The 392 Track Pack and SRT feature an all-new 22-by-12-inch wheel design that can mount a 325-millimeter-wide rear tire, designed to match the 88-inch width of the truck and add to the widebody appearance. The SRT previews a Blacktop exterior paint package that covers the hood and roof in Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat.

The interior gets a muscle-car-like look with nods to the past and current technologies.

The Rumble Bee comes equipped with manually operated cloth buckets with medium Greystone accent stitching, a G/T console shifter, and a flat-bottom performance steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters and thumb rests carved into the leather rim. Interior trim rings and surrounds finished in Black Onyx Chrome add to the “sinister” look.

A G/T transfer case switch bank to the right of the steering wheel features dedicated buttons for RWD, launch control and electronic spool, when equipped. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered across the lineup.

Stepping up to Rumble Bee 392 adds a 10-way power cloth bucket seat for the driver and Twill Deco trim for the G/T console shifter and other interior trim pieces. The door panels, console and fat-handed steering wheel sport Prowler Yellow accent stitching.

Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack further elevates the style and comfort with 12-way power adjustable leather and suede bucket seats. The Prowler Yellow stitching found on the base 392 is extended to the door panels and shifter, and trim pieces like metal door sill plates add model-specific details.

The interior of the Rumble Bee SRT adds bold styling with Desert Orange stitching on the steering wheel, front and rear door panels, leather dashboard and G/T console shifter, much like the supercharged engine’s orange-painted block. Powered bucket seats are trimmed in Natura Plus leather and suede. Suede also covers the headliner, visors and cabin pillars. Carbon Fiber Deco trim adds visual flair throughout the interior, while a genuine leather-wrapped horn pad with accent stitching adds a premium finish to the driver’s immediate view.

Rumble Bee SRT also includes metal pedals with rubber pads for fast foot control.

Additional interior features include:

  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with customization options
  • Full-color Head-up Display (available on the 392 and SRT) featuring a digital tachometer, active lane management, adaptive cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, current speed, current gear and speed limit.
  • Available surround 360-degree camera system

Performance Pages with real-time vehicle information, including timers (such as 0-60 mph elapsed time), g-force, gauges and engine performance.
  • Uconnect touchscreen, available in a horizontal 8.4-inch screen or premium 12- and 14.5-inch portrait-style screen with split screen functionality

Additional features of the Uconnect system:

  • Dual phone connectivity and wireless charging capability
