Those hoping for a redesigned Honda Ridgeline for 2027 might have to wait at least another 18 months, according to recent media reports.
Automotive News first reported that Honda will halt Ridgeline production at its Lincoln, Alabama, plant in the fourth quarter and will return in 2028 with a new engine. The break is reportedly to give the Japanese manufacturer time to upgrade the truck’s 280-horsepower V6 and possibly add a hybrid powertrain option to meet stricter emission regulations for 2027.
Still no official word from Honda about the reported changes. When asked about a Ridgeline production halt, a company spokesperson released the following statement to Equipment World:
Ridgeline remains an important model in our lineup and one of our top conquest models with unique appeal within the industry and pickup segment. The Ridgeline will continue to play an important role in our product lineup now and in the future.
Honda's Lincoln plant produces 340,000 vehicles and V6 engines a year. Along with the Ridgeline and V6, the plant's 4,500-plus employees roll out the Odyssey minivan and Passport and Pilot SUVs.
The reported Ridgeline pause follows the company's largest loss in its history during its 2025 fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Ridgeline began arriving at dealers last fall, marking the truck’s 25th anniversary on the U.S. market. It debuted in 2005 at the North American Auto Show.
The 2026 Ridgeline is offered with four trims, all of which have all-wheel drive. Prices start at $40,595 for the Ridgeline Sport.
All trims also run on the gasoline V6 with 262 pound-feet of torque and get Honda’s Intelligent Variable Torque Management system paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds.
All the trims come with the following standard features:
