Demag PC 3800-1 pedestal crane offers quick setup, versatile jobsite access
Terex has introduced a new Demag pedestal crane the company says reduces jobsite prep time and allows contractors to access jobsites unreachable by standard crawler models.
The new PC 3800-1 does not require leveling supporting ground across a large area in order to achieve nominal lifting capacity. Instead, only four spots need to be prepared for the outrigger supports and these spots don’t need to be perfectly level. “The outrigger cylinders can compensate some tolerance on the ground’s flatness—up to 2.1 degrees with a 12 x 12 m outrigger base,” Terex says.
The foldable outriggers can be positioned at 12 x 12 and 14 x 14 with Superlift and at 16 x 16 without.
Manitou EDGE tree clipper boasts longer reach, rugged build
Manitou Americas’ new EDGE Extreme Duty High Reach Tree Clipper features a rugged design and is capable of cutting hardwoods up to 9 inches in diameter, even at ground level, the company says.
The compact loader attachment has longer upper and lower plates that strengthen the clipper head, which has an easy-release feature to keep limbs and trees from wedging between the blades. The clipper also has self-cleaning spacers, self-centering T-1 tempered steel blades, and two extra bars on the mount for added stability.
Ram 3500 steals torque crown from Ford, claims best-in-class fifth-wheel towing
Ram announced today an uptick in power for its 2018 Ram 3500 which edges it past Ford for bragging rights to best-in-class torque.
The ramped up Ram delivers 930 lb. ft. of torque, or five more foot pounds than the 2017 F-350. The truck can also tow up to 30,000 lbs. with its fifth-wheel hitch, which is 2,500 pounds more than a fifth-wheel equipped 2017 F-350.
“Ram maintains capability leadership by delivering the highest-ever torque rating for a pickup truck and heaviest fifth-wheel trailer towing capacity,” said Mike Manley, head of Jeep & Ram Brand, FCA Global. “We understand the attributes most important to our customers within the heavy-duty segment; they demand hard-working, long-lasting capability.”
