2027 Ram 2500 HD, 3500 HD Revealed: 9 Trims With Hemi V8 or Cummins Diesel

Ram’s 2027 lineup of 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup trucks comes in nine trim options and choice of Hemi V8 gas engine or Cummins turbo diesel.

Those who opt for the Hemi can also get a Symbol of Protest V8 fender badge, the company’s acknowledgement it “screwed up” when it dropped the popular engine for the 2025 Ram 1500. The Hemi returned for the 2026 model year and is available for the 2027 Ram 1500. The badge signifying the Hemi V8's return is now also available for the HDs, even though the diesel engine wasn’t dropped as an option for the 2500 and 3500.

The 2027 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will be available for the first time with the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output diesel.

The nine trims for the 2027 HD lineup are Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited and Limited Longhorn.

The Engines

Ram is offering two engines for the 2027 2500 HD and 3500 HD:

• The Cummins diesel delivers 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque and is paired to a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission. On the 2500 HD, it can tow up to 20,000 pounds and handle a 3,990-pound payload. On the 3500 HD, the Cummins can tow up to 37,020 pounds and carry 6,460 pounds of payload.
• The Hemi V8 delivers 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque and is paired to a TorqueFlite 8HP75-LCV eight-speed automatic transmission. On the 2500, it can tow up to 17,740 pounds and carry up to 4,580 pounds with a new Payload Upgrade Package. For the 3500, towing increases to 18,140 pounds and up to 7,580-pound payload.

What’s New for 2027?

Here are some of the new features for the 2027 Ram HD trucks:

• Payload Upgrade Package — available on Tradesman, Big Horn / Lone Star, Laramie, Limited and Limited Longhorn with the Hemi. It raises the GVWR from 10,000 to 11,040 pounds for the 2500 HD and boosts payload to 4,580 pounds. The package costs an additional $835 MSRP and includes a 3500 frame, leaf-springs and anti-spin rear differential.
• Symbol of Protest V8 fender badge — for Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Rebel and Power Wagon with the Hemi.
• Sport Appearance Package and Night Edition Package — now offered on trucks with Level 1 and Level 2 equipment groups.
• Sport performance hood — now a standalone option on Rebel and Power Wagon, as well as on Big Horn models equipped with the Night Edition or Sport Appearance package.
• Optional beadlock-capable wheel on Power Wagon with the Hemi.
• Available GVWR increase to 11,440 pounds and 400-pound extra payload for Ram 3500 4x4 SRW Regular Cab 8-foot box and Crew Cab 6-foot 4-inch box with the Hemi.
• Warn electric winch as a standalone option on Rebel and Power Wagon with the Hemi.
• Anti-spin rear differential as a standalone option on 2500 Tradesman.
• RamBox availability and new optional body-color fender flares for Laramie.
• New colors (late availability) — Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear-Coat.
