This week at the Easter Jeep Safari, an annual nine-day off-road trail event in Utah, Jeep unveiled 7 concept vehicles. And while several of them are excellent, there’s one in particular that we’d be pretty psyched to see go into production.
The Red Rock Responder is a Wrangler/pickup hybrid powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, outfitted with a four-inch JPP lift. The giant truck also features Fox shocks and front and rear Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gearing. It’s designed as a rescue vehicle with enough room in the bed and cargo boxes to hold tires, parts and tools.
The truck sits on 37-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires. They’re mounted on 17-inch wheels that sit beneath high-top fenders. Steel bumpers guard the front and the rear and a Warn winch assists in any serious rescue work the Red Rock might have to do.
If you could find a way to mount a crane on this sucker, this just might be the ultimate jobsite service vehicle.
Another notable entry in this field of concepts is the Jeep Chief, a beautifully-designed (save for that interior) throwback to the 1970s Jeep Cherokee. The Chief is built on the Wrangler frame and features a custom razor grille first seen on the Wagoneer. It also features removable side panels, chrome front and rear bumpers and 17-inch slotted mag wheels.
