After launching its next-generation L30 and L35 two years ago, Volvo CE says it is giving the compact wheel loaders their most significant frame redesign in nearly 30 years.
The two CWLs were introduced in 1998, and the L30 has become the company’s top-selling CWL in the U.S., according to EDA. (EDA and Equipment World are both owned by Fusable.)
Volvo is giving both loaders a “significant frame redesign” that includes a new rear section, cab entrance and service access. The company says the redesign will lead to increased flexibility for operators and improved operation and service access.
"Switching between tasks is easier than ever, servicing is more straightforward, and operators get the daily performance they need to get the job done,” says Darren Ashton, Volvo product manager for compact equipment.

Redesigned Rear
Operators will be able to install rear-mounted equipment more easily with the new rear design of the 1.3-cubic-yard L30 and 1.6-cubic-yard L35, according to Volvo.
The redesign enables different trailer couplings to be fitted quicker, and hydraulic and electric connections can be retrofitted or installed with greater ease.
Redesigned Service Access
The new back also improves access to service points as the split side-mounted counterweights can be removed.

The components area also gets a larger opening in the front frame for access to key components and for adding hydraulic or electrical equipment, the company says.
Volvo CERedesigned Cab Entrance
For the cab, Volvo says it has added “three ergonomically positioned steps, well-placed handrails and a wide-opening door.”
The operator gets a high seating position and improved visibility to the loader, attachment and jobsite.
Other cab features include:
Low in-cab noise.
Heating and optional air conditioning.
Adjustable steering column.
Ergonomic joystick.
5-inch display controlled by jog wheel.
“The L30 and L35 are already proven machines, so our focus with these updates was on listening to operator feedback and making work easier,” Ashton says. “We’ve added practical improvements that keep maintenance straightforward and boost site output, helping customers get even more done every day.”
