Kubota is expanding its WorkSmart Autosteer system to its compact machines, enabling precision guidance on utility tractors, mowers and utility vehicles.
The system works like autopilot, Kubota says, holding the line while the operator stays in control of the operation. It is engineered for the specific model it is installed on to ensure “manufacturer-quality” integration.
Priced at $6,000, WorkSmart Autosteer is compatible with new and used Kubota equipment and backed by a 2-year limited warranty. Qualified purchasers can finance the system through Kubota Credit Corporation. The unit may be sold, installed, serviced and warranted and financed through a single Kubota authorized dealer relationship.
“WorkSmart Autosteer isn’t about removing the operator from the decision; it’s about helping to remove fatigue and error from the equation,” said Austin Hawkins, senior manager, technology sales and marketing, Kubota North America. “At your command, the machine holds the line, so you stay sharp, cover more ground and still get home with something left for the people who matter most.”
Two Accuracy Levels
WorkSmart Autosteer offers two correction levels:
- SBAS (WAAS): 6 to 8 inches of repeatable pass-to-pass accuracy; no subscription required.
- PPP: 1-inch accuracy for specialty crops and other precision applications, available with an annual subscription.
Both options integrate with Kubota's user interface and maintain consistent accuracy throughout field operations, making adoption simple for first-time users and experienced operators, the company says.

Key benefits include:
- Precision planting, fertilizing and spraying: Guidance holds the machine to a defined line, so each pass registers against the one before it. This ensures that seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products land where the operator intended, rather than where the last pass ended.
- Overlap reduction: By holding the guidance line, the system reduces the pass-to-pass overlap typical in manual steering operations.
- Faster training: Holding a straight line across a long field is a learned skill; precision guidance reduces the learning curve for new operators, allowing them to be productive faster.
- One system, multiple uses: The same repeatable guidance can be used across multiple applications, from crop row spacing to turf and grounds work.
Dealer Installation, Training and Support
Authorized Kubota dealers can install the system in approximately two hours and provide hands-on training to ensure operator comfort.
The system operates through a WorkSmart Autosteer app, available for iOS and Android devices. App tutorials, calibration guides and operational videos to support ongoing learning and troubleshooting are also available.
Available now, WorkSmart Autosteer is compatible with select Kubota tractors, mowers and RTVs. It supports seeding and planting, tillage and cultivation, hay operations, spraying and spreading, mowing, road grading, and orchard and vineyard work.
