Toyota is expanding its 2027 Tundra lineup with a new Trailhunter package, offering factory-built off-roading upgrades at a more affordable price point.
Based on the lower-priced SR5 trim level, the package is available with both V6 gas and hybrid i-Force Max powertrain options and adds Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, an Old Man Emu upgraded suspension, front recovery hooks and additional underbody protection. Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential further enhance traction and control in a variety of conditions.
Toyota also spec’d the full-size pickup with bronze-colored wheels, interior and exterior Trailhunter badging and design upgrades shared with the rest of the 2027 Tundra lineup.
The refreshed models have a square front geometry, a hexagonal-themed grille, a wide stance and lower bumper with integrated rectangular fog lights. Eight grades will be offered: SR, SR5, Trailhunter, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone.
Toyota has also teased a new high-performance off-road TRD Hammer variant, designed to compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor.
Tundras equipped with the i-Force Max hybrid engine get a 2.4kW inverter for powering tools, gear and recreational equipment. The available grille-mounted LED light bar has been upgraded for brighter output, and available RIGID fog lights further enhance visibility in low-light conditions.

New Multimedia, Digital and Safety Features
The lineup also comes equipped with the latest-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system with integrated AT&T 5G network connectivity. The larger 14-inch screen features a “smartphone-like design” that offers customizable home screen widgets and an embedded voice assistant that enables faster responses to “Hey Toyota” prompts.
When enabled, a standard built-in Drive Recorder Dash Cam the truck’s front, rear or PVM cameras, if equipped, are designed to capture 20-second clips of both manual and triggered events.
Enhanced Digital Key functionality is also available with the 2027 Tundra with an active Remote Connect trial or subscription.
Drivers can manage functionalities from the Toyota app or within their Apple, Google or Samsung device’s digital wallet app, including locking, unlocking, starting and operating their vehicle. Subscribers can also share and manage Digital Key sharing permissions with up to five additional drivers directly through their digital wallet. The enabled Digital Key can use near-field communication to continue to provide access to the vehicle for a period of time even if the device has no battery life.

The newest version of Toyota’s standard Safety Sense (TSS 4.0) system brings updates to its hardware and detection capabilities and has the following features:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)
- Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)
- Automatic High Beams (AHB)
- Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
- Road Sign Assist (RSA)
- Proactive Driving Assist (PDA)
Additional details, specifications and pricing for the 2027 Tundra are scheduled to be announced fall 2026.
The base MSRP for the 2026 Tundra SR5 with a standard double cab and 6.5-foot bed is $46,510, while the Limited sits at $54,860, leading us to believe the 2027 Trailhunter price may fall somewhere between those two trim levels.
