The Chevy Silverado 1500 gets a complete makeover inside and out for the 2027 model year, including two all-new V8 engines.
The next-generation full-size, light-duty pickup truck will come in choice of seven trims and four engines, including the return of the Turbo Diesel.
The seven available trims are the ZR2, High Country, Trail Boss, Silverado (replaces the LT), Custom Trail Boss, Custom and WT (Work Truck).
More details, pricing and ordering information are scheduled for later this year. The truck is set to go on sale by the end of 2026, according to GM.
Here’s what we know so far:
The Engines
Next-generation 6.6-liter V8General Motors
The engines get a boost in power and torque, giving the Silverado 1500 “the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class,” the company says.
Buyers also have a choice of a 2.7L TurboMax that GM says delivers best-in-class standard torque.
The Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel also returns to the lineup.
All the engines get paired with a 10-speed transmission.
The Exterior

The redesign includes:
- New LED headlights and taillights.
- More pronounced wheel opening moldings and rocker treatments.
- Standard dual exhaust on Custom trim and above.
- New front fascia.
- Unique lighting signatures.
- Trim-specific differentiation.

“The goal with the new Silverado was to create a truck that looks stronger, more modern with demanding presence at first glance, while staying true to the authentic truck character customers expect from Chevrolet,” says Chevrolet Global Executive Design Director Phil Zak.
The Interior

The redesign includes:
16.3-inch center display and 12.2-inch driver information center as standard across the lineup.
11.5-inch front passenger screen with Heads-Up-Display and a rear camera mirror as standard on ZR2 and High Country.
Available dual wireless charging. Reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console for added storage and versatility.
Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology with hands-free driving while towing — “No other competitor in its class offers a hands-free driving system with trailering capability,” GM says.
The Trims
There will be seven available trims of the 2027 Silverado:

GM calls the ZR2 its off-road flagship.
Key features include:
- 35-inch MT tires.

- Forged carbon-fiber trim on the doors and console — “the first-ever use of true carbon décor on ZR2 and GM’s first application of forged carbon,” the company says.
A ZR2 Bison Edition, made in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles, will be available. It will feature front and rear AEV bumpers, AEV rear badge, rocker protection, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, all-weather floor liners, and skid plates to protect the front underbody, transfer case, rear differential and fuel tank.

The High Country trim offers “luxury-grade comfort and full-size truck capability with a bold new expression of strength and sophistication,” GM says.
Features include:
- New High Country badge.
- 22-inch After Midnight machine faced wheels.
- Darker, richer trim elements and more polished detailing.

- Natural Tan-Edged seatbelts.
- Real wood décor.
- Tritan Satin accents.
- Custom seat treatments.
- Available microfiber suede interior materials.

For those not willing to shoulder the added cost of the ZR2, the Trail Boss is next in line for the off-road enthusiast.
Features include:
- 34-inch MT tires.
- 2-inch factory lift.
- Dedicated off-road hood.
- Torch Red-edged seatbelts and seats with fabric accent inserts and custom perforation pattern.
Silverado
Formerly the LT, the Silverado trim is new for 2027.
Customers who select the four-wheel-drive version will get the Z71 off-road package standard, which includes skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension.
Custom Trail Boss
GM views the Custom Trail Boss trim as an entry-level off-road truck.
Features include off-road styling, a 2-inch lift and 34-inch tires.
Custom
The Custom trim is for buyers on a budget.
New for 2027: dual exhaust and 20-inch Technical Gray machine faced wheels.

The WT trim is built for fleet customers and commercial operators, according to GM, and gets the next-gen V8s.
“Configurations are optimized to accommodate common upfits for construction, utilities, municipal and commercial fleets,” the company says. “Straightforward interiors are designed to be easy to clean and simple for drivers to learn, even across large, diverse fleets.”
The trucks, as with the other trims, get new digital displays, enhanced safety and driver assistance technology, and connectivity features.
