The transportation sector gained 30,500 jobs in November, rising from 4,504,100 jobs in October to 4,534,600 in November, according to statistics released Friday by the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
In comparison, overall employment in the U.S. increased by 203,000 jobs in November, while the unemployment rate decreased 0.3 percent.
The couriers and messengers sector of transportation experienced the highest number of gains, growing from 544,800 jobs in October to 553,400 in November — an increase of 8,600 jobs.
Scenic and sightseeing transportation saw the only loss in transportation, dropping from 25,300 jobs in October to 24,800 jobs in November, a loss of 500 jobs.
Rail transportation was the only transportation sector to hold steady in November, maintaining 229,900 jobs from October to November.
