Makita has expanded its power tool lineup with two new models aimed at the construction industry: the GWT09 short anvil impact wrench and the VL001GZ vibratory screed power head.
Short Anvil, High-Torque Impact Wrench
Building on the launch of the extended-anvil GWT10, Makita’s four-speed, high-torque, 1-inch impact wrench, the more compact GWT09 has entered the lineup.

The all-new 4-Speed High-Torque 1-inch Square Drive D-Handle Short Anvil Impact Wrench includes a friction ring and delivers improved versatility in tight spaces. Applications include heavy equipment maintenance, commercial construction, OTR truck service, pipe fitting, oil and gas, rail maintenance and automotive repair.
Operators will be working with 2,950 foot-pounds of nut-busting torque and 2,320 foot-pounds of fastening torque, plus three forward and three reverse auto-stop modes. Makita says the GWT09 delivers 47% more nut-busting torque than the leading competitor.
The GWT09 offers speeds of 0-600 / 0-700 / 0-850 / 0-1,200 rpm and 0-1,200 / 0-1,300 / 0-1,500 / 0-1,750 impacts per minute.
A rubber joint separating the battery and tool impacts provides operators with anti-vibration protection, while an LED light ring delivers 360-degree illumination.

Small-Pour Vibratory Screed Power Head
On the concrete side, Makita now offers the VL001GZ 40V XGT Vibratory Screed Power Head, which can pair with 3-foot, 4.5-foot and 6-foot screed bars.

Operators can float and screed concrete at 11,000 vibrations per minute, and Makita says the new VL001G delivers improved leveling speed and compaction results.
Designed for sidewalks, patios, driveways, steps and residential slabs, Makita’s new VL001GZ is specifically targeted at smaller concrete pours when operators need additional maneuverability and ease of use. A lightweight design helps to reduce operator fatigue, and the VL001GZ delivers 2 hours of runtime on one fully charged 40V max XGT 4.0Ah battery.
This new vibratory head also includes a lever-style lock system for faster tool-less screed bar installation, a lock-on button and a rubber grip for reduced user vibration. A battery cover protects the VL001GZ from concrete intrusion.
