The R35Z-9A zero-tail swing, 3 ½-ton excavator was introduced in 2015. And during Hyundai’s 2017 Voice of the Customer event, it heard from North American dealers and customers on ways to improve it.
In response, Hyundai added nine new standard features as well as an optional four-way angle dozer blade. The new standard features are as follows:
- A Werk Brau-compatible thumb bracket
- A diverter valve for easy switching between a thumb or attachment
- Proportional control levers with two-way piping
- Pin-grabber style dual-locking quick coupler and O/C piping
- Enhanced bucket design with lifting eye and two-piece tooth design for easy replacement
- Increased curve profile on dozer blade for better grade and cutting ability
- An easily replaceable cutting edge to the dozer blade
- A wider opening engine compartment
- A centered boom LED work light
The excavator keeps its 23.7-horsepower Yanmar engine. Other mainstay features of the R35Z-9A include an air-conditioned cab with suspension seat and fold-up travel pedals and boom swing capability of 75 degrees left and 50 degrees right.
It has a max dig depth of 10 feet, 3 inches. Bucket breakout force is 6,900 pound-feet, and standard bucket capacity is 0.14 cubic yards. It comes with a three-year, 3,000-hour warranty and a five-year, 10,000-hour structural guarantee, the company says.
