KOBELCO’s latest high-reach demolition excavator, the new SK650DLC-11, offers up to 92 feet 7 inches of pin height, an 8,160-pound tool capacity at maximum reach, multiple front configurations, and simplified setup and transport options for demanding demolition jobs.
Powered by a 463-horsepower Isuzu Tier 4 Final engine, the 178,100-pound SK650DLC-11 can accommodate tools weighing up to 13,450 pounds. A hydraulic variable undercarriage, demolition-specific tilting cab and an attachment connection system further increase safety and efficiency when tearing down monster structures, the company says.
“The SK650DLC-11 was purpose built to give demolition contractors more capability from a single machine,” said Dan Collins, director of product development for KOBELCO. “By combining multiple front configurations with a shared main boom, a variable undercarriage and features designed to simplify assembly and transportation, contractors can configure the machine around the demands of the job rather than compromise between reach, tool capacity and mobility.”
Four Front Boom and Attachment Configurations
Designed for versatility, the SK650DLC-11 features amulti-configuration attachment system that allows either a Separate Digging Boom or 3-Piece High-Reach Attachment to be used on the base machine through a shared main boom. The Separate Digging Boom is designed for overhead, close-range and below-ground-level demolition work.

The standard cab interference prevention system sounds an alarm and prevents the work tool from contacting the cab during operation. Operators can program and save multiple tools into the system.
Additionally,a stability warning system, featuring both longitudinal and horizontal detection, displays attachment posture status and the working height and radius to support safer demolition operations. If machine stability is compromised, the operator will receive continuous audible alerts.

The SK650DLC-11 features a spacious demolition-specific cab with 30-degree tilt capability, designed to improve visibility, operator comfort and protection during high-reach work. Multiple standard demolition-focused features ensure safety, including top and front P5A glass, Level II protection and a falling-object deflector.

The 10-inch color monitor displays key machine information from a simple menu screen, as well as left, right and rear camera views. A jog dial eases navigation through the menu screens. Switches and dials are backlit with LED lights for better visibility at night.
An LED light automatically turns on when the door is opened or when the key is turned off, while the new tilting left console rises at a steep angle for easier entry and exit.
Additional features include an air-suspension heated seat, air conditioning, Bluetooth hands-free radio, a charging port, a public address system, a large front window wiper, an emergency manual cab lowering valve and telematics.
Faster Assembly and Transportation
Moving an excavator this large requires some work on the front and back end. To simplify assembly, disassembly and transport, KOBELCO gave the SK650DLC-11 a hydraulic variable undercarriage, a removable counterweight and quick boom and attachment connections.
The undercarriage retracts to 10 feet, 6 inches wide for easier transport and extends to 13 feet, 9 inches wide while working for enhanced stability. The undercarriage can be extended or retracted while the machine remains on the ground. No hydraulic hose reconnection or bolting is required.
With the counterweight removed, the SK650DLC-11’s weight drops to 109,000 pounds.
The KOBELCO attachment joint system simplifies connection of the main boom and front attachment by allowing the upper pin to be hooked into position before the lower connection is secured hydraulically. A one-touch bayonet-style mechanism connects the main boom and front attachments without tools. The system also helps reduce possibility of oil leakage caused by damaged seals.
The 3-Piece High-Reach Attachment also features a cross-cylinder structure that reduces the excavator’s transport height and improves access to tie-down points.
New attachment stands serve as both storage stands and work platforms, allowing operators to more accurately check the positions of the upper pin and connection hook during attachment assembly and removal.
An optional hydraulic removable counterweight can also be removed and installed by one person, helping reduce labor requirements and the potential need for additional crane support.

The SK650DLC-11 joins KOBELCO’s growing lineup of demolition excavators, including the SK300 and SK350 Straight Boom models and the SK350D and SK1300D High Reach models.
