Following the launch of the company’s first utility vehicles earlier this summer, Caterpillar is expanding the lineup with a pair of five-seat models.

Built in Thief River Calls, Minnesota, by Textron, the new CUV85 and CUV105 D join the CUV82 and CUV102 D to expand the Cat UTV lineup to four.

Like the two-seat models, the gas-powered CUV85 and diesel CUV105 D feature an all-steel cargo bed with a bed capacity of 1,000 pounds and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

Cat says seating is “spacious…with copious leg, elbow and headroom.” Design of the UTVs was focused on a quiet and comfortable ride. Electric power steering delivers responsive handling and tight turning capabilities, the company says.

The CUV85 and CUV105 D feature a four-wheel independent suspension system with a front sway bar. Ride is further enhanced by a long swing-arm suspension and custom-tuned springs and shocks.

An 0.8-liter, three-cylinder, 50-horsepower gas engine powers the CUV85, while a 1.0L, three-cylinder diesel provides 25 hp on the CUV105 D. The new models can reach speeds up to 45 miles per hour.

The machines provide behind-the-seat storage and a document holder for personal items and gear. The passenger seat bases can be removed and stowed behind the driver seat to free up floor space for hauling oversized items.

An instrument gauge displays speed, engine speed, operating hours, odometer, battery voltage, engine temperature and fuel level.

Maintenance is simplified with easy access to filters and the drive belt, and on-board advanced diagnostics reduce troubleshooting time, the company says.

Customers can customize Cat UTVs for work needs through more than 50 accessory options. Offerings include snow plows, a heater, front winch and power dump. Optional cabs, roofs, windshields and doors on the ROPS structure can provide a weather-tight enclosure. Cat UTVs are prewired for do-it-yourself installation of all options.
