Doosan updates DX140W wheel excavator with T4i engine, work modes, new comforts

Dx140 W I T4 Excavator

Doosan today announced updates to its DX140W wheel excavator. The machine is now powered by a 135-horsepower, turbocharged, 6-cylinder DL06KB water-cooled diesel engine. The 359-cubic-inch engine is Tier 4 Interim certified and features a high pressure common rail design with direct fuel injection, electronic control and four valves per cylinder.

?The machine features an Electronic Power Optimizing System (EPOS) with four work modes — digging, breaker, shear and the new lifting mode — to allow the operator to tailor the machine’s power and fuel efficiency to the application. Plus, the new Power Plus mode provides improved performance and faster workgroup speeds for heavy duty work.

Outriggers on the DX140W can be controlled individually to stabilize the machine on uneven surfaces. The front axle oscillates and provides excellent steering angles for maneuverability, but can be locked for better digger and lifting performance.

The machine also boasts comfort enhancements. Doosan says cab vibration has been reduced 20 percent and the cabin size has increased 6.1 percent for more headroom. Meanwhile, the joystick angle has been reduced from 25 degrees to 19 degrees to provide a more ergonomic profile and decrease interference with operators’ legs.

Optional features include Doosan’s new Intelligent Floating Boom which allows the boom of the excavator to “float” up or down, allowing the operator to focus more on the task. Intelligent Floating Boom mode allows the boom to move freely up and down without hydraulic flow; and in breaker mode the boom is allowed to move freely down, only without hydraulic flow. A temporary reset button allows the ability to momentarily disengage the float, allowing hydraulic flow to activate the boom.

Like every new Doosan machine the DX140W is covered by the company’s 48 hour parts guarantee. The program guarantees that if a “machine-debilitating” part is needed, Doosan will deliver it directly to the end user within two business days or Doosan will pay for a replacement machine rental.
