OSHA: Crane operators must be certified by crane type by Nov. 10

Crane certification requirements by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration will take effect November 10, but crane operators will only have to be certified by crane type – not rated lifting capacity.

OSHA released guidance on its crane rules November 5, indicating that its final rule will not take effect before November 10, when enforcement of the existing certification requirements begins. The final rule removes a provision in the existing rules that requires operators to be certified by both crane type and capacity. For that reason, OSHA released the guidance to clear up confusion during the interim between the existing requirements’ taking effect and the new rule’s effective date.

Hennessey brings V8 back to Ford Raptor with 758-hp 2019 VelociRaptor (VIDEO)

When Ford changed the engine on its revamped 2017 model of F-150 Raptor trucks, fans raised quite a fuss. But the Blue Oval stuck with the EcoBoost V6 and that was the end of the discussion.

But for diehard fans who want the growl and thunder of a true V8, there is John Hennessy, founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance, who is doing a brisk business of stuffing Ford 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engines in this popular truck. Hennessey calls this more powerful version of Ford’s rugged off-roader the VelociRaptor V8.

Mopar intros the first 1,000-hp crate engine ever: a HEMI with 950 lb.-ft. of torque

Mopar dropped some jaws at this year’s SEMA show with the introduction of the first 1,000-horsepower crate engine ever produced by an OEM.

And yes, it’s a HEMI.

The new 426 Supercharged Mopar crate engine, aka “Hellephant,” also boasts an impressive 950 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine has 4 inches of stroke and bore specs at 4.125 inches.

PHOTOS: The baddest Ford Super Duty custom builds at SEMA 2018

Once again, Ford F-Series trucks took home the hardware at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas for “Hottest Truck.” That award is determined by counting up how many custom builds representing each truck OEM are out on the show floor each year. And after walking around SEMA 2018 for a few minutes, you’d probably have guessed the F-Series would be taking home the hardware. You could barely walk 5 feet without seeing a custom Super Duty truck at this year’s show. It’s a really popular canvas for the artists that flock to SEMA each year.

Cat unveils two all-new D6 dozers, one with electric drive, at Trimble Dimensions (VIDEO)

It’s the mother of all options. Do you want your next Caterpillar D6 dozer with a standard powertrain…or an electric drive?

Caterpillar gave us a sneak peek at this dynamic duo earlier in the week at the Trimble Dimensions 2018 conference in Las Vegas. (The rest of the world will see them in Peoria next week.)
