Construction worker killed while unloading equipment in NYC

Throgs Neck BridgeA 62-year-old construction worker was killed in an accident near Throgs Neck Bridge in the Bronx borough of New York City.

According to a report from NY1 News, the accident happened in the early morning when construction crews were unloading a cabinet full of electrical equipment. The equipment accidentally fell off of the pallet, killing the worker.

“We had a contractor who was working on a project here at the Throgs Neck Bridge who was killed by a piece of equipment,” said MTA Spokesperson Adam Lisberg. “It was a couple of people who were helping move this piece of equipment, and he was unfortunately killed as the piece of equipment fell.”

Investigators were uncertain if the accident was due to equipment failure or not. No other injuries were reported.
