Shell collaborates with Volvo, Mack Trucks on global LNG fuel

Shell LogoShell has taken part in two new global collaborations—one with Volvo Trucks and one with Mack Trucks—to encourage the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a fuel for commercial vehicles.

The two non-exclusive agreements with Shell will include collaboration on issues such as fuel specification and emissions performance.

Volvo’s LNG offerings include its 13-liter LNG engine for North America and its natural gas-powered option for the Volvo VNM daycab. Volvo will also offer a natural gas-powered version of the Volvo VNL daycab in 2013.

Mack’s LNG offerings include its natural gas-powered Mack TerraPro refuse vehicle and its natural gas-powered Mack Pinnacle. Mack plans to launch a natural gas-powered Mack Granite for the construction segment in 2013.
