The Intracoastal Bridge on La. 1 in West Baton Rouge was closed March 19 after a dump truck with its bed raised collided with the bridge and damaged one of the girders under the southbound outside lane of the bridge, WBRZ reports. Crews performed a full inspection of the damage the next morning.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) said the outside lane of the bridge will remain closed indefinitely, as repairs might take a month to complete.
The DOTD hired International Straightening, Inc. to repair the damaged girder at an estimated cost of $450,000.
