Record-setting Harvey causes emergency road closures in La.

Flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey, which made a second landfall August 30 on the Louisiana-Texas border, has led to road closures in southwestern Louisiana due to flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, Harvey has set a preliminary record, with more than 50 inches of rain, the most rainfall measured from a single storm in the continental United States. Another 6 to 12 inches are expected to the north and east of Houston from far east Texas into southwestern Louisiana, the service says as of 8 a.m. August 30.

The storm has led to more than 500 road closures due to flooding in southeastern Texas.
