gehl machineryGehl has upgraded its telehandler lineup with its third-generation DL series, with all four models featuring all-in-one joystick control.

The joystick control emerged last year on Gehl’s RS5-19 model and now comes standard on all four models in the new DL lineup: DL11-44 GEN:3, DL11-55 GEN:3, DL12-40 GEN:3 and DL12-55 GEN:3.

The joystick controls forward, neutral and reverse; boom extension and retraction; attachment tilt; and auxiliary hydraulics. The operator can keep the other hand on the steering wheel.

Gehl also said it improved visibility from the cab and added a lockable storage compartment for items such as work gloves, tools and blueprints.

The telehandlers range from 11,000- to 12,000-pound lift capacities, and lift heights of 40 feet, 4 inches to 55 feet, 5 inches. They are powered by a 120-horsepower, Tier 4 Final Cummins engine and can reach max speeds of 22.8 mph.

The telehandlers also feature Dana power-shift transmissions with four forward and two reverse gears. Operators can choose three steering modes of four-wheel, two-wheel and crab, which can be changed with the flip of a switch. The engine has shutdown protection that allows 30 seconds of run time for moving the telehandler to a safe location for loading or repair, the company says.

When the boom is raised, the load remains level due to automatic hydraulic self-leveling with 10 degrees of frame tilt in either direction. The rear axle also locks to the frame, if the parking brake is engaged, the boom is raised 60 degrees or more, or the Personnel Work Platform System is activated.

The DL models can run such attachments as carriages, work platforms, truss booms, grapple arms. Three attach systems are available: Dynattach with an auto locking system, Dynacarrier with wider support and Dynacarrier with hydraulic locking quick attach.

The DL11-55 and DL12-55 come standard with front outriggers and boom tip auxiliary hydraulic lines. Those features are optional on the DL11-44 and DL12-40.
