LiuGong’s latest excavator to get its F Series treatment is the new 25-ton-class 925F CR, a compact-radius machine designed for powerful lifting performance and precise control on tight jobsites.

Core tenants of LiuGong’s F Series lineup include Tier 4 Final engines, electric-over-hydraulic controls and updated cabs with new monitors.

Even with its 5-foot 10-inch tailswing radius, LuiGong says, the 925F CR offers a similar lifting capacity as its full-tail 922F thanks to enhanced boom circuit hydraulics.

“We’ve taken that tail swing down from about 4 feet over the side of the tracks to about 7 inches. It’s a huge difference,” says Jim Joy, LiuGong excavator product manager. “People really like that you can work in a single lane of traffic, stay safe and not take up more room than you need to. Because the dig forces and lifting forces are right there with the full-tail version, people are really liking how this is performing.”

With the standard 1.3-cubic-yard earthmoving bucket, the 925F CR can lift a maximum material density of 2,360 to 2,697 pounds per cubic yard of wet earth and clay, limestone and sandstone. The maximum dig depth is 21 feet 5 inches.

The 925F CR is powered by a 156-horsepower Cummins B6.7 diesel engine, enabling maximum torque delivery at lower engine speeds. Its hydraulic request signal system continuously monitors operator activity and automatically adjusts engine speed to match demand.

“We have LiuGong software that really gets the most out of the Cummins engine and transfers it into the hydraulic system to get the fastest, smoothest digging that we can provide,” adds Joy.

New Operator Station

LiuGong completely redesigned the F Series cabs with safety, comfort and productivity at the forefront. The high-strength ROPS-certified cab meets ISO 12117-2:2008 standards and has low interior sound levels of 68 dB(a). A Falling Object Protection System is available as an option.

A new 10-inch, high-resolution LCD touchscreen monitor can be customized to match operator preferences. A jog dial enables quick navigation and adjustment of functions and settings. Kawasaki electric-over-hydraulic joystick controls have a “feather touch” for “great control,” Joy says.

  • Removable lower windshield
  • Front windshield with overhead stowage
  • Transparent cab skylight
  • Sunscreen
  • Front window rain visor
  • Sliding right-side window
  • Interior and exterior lighting

Attachments and Options

A full suite of auxiliary hydraulic piping options, including bi-directional variable high-flow lines, an additional line for rotating attachments, and a single-acting line, allows the 925F CR to run a variety of specialized attachments.

When combined with the quick coupler, switching between buckets, hammers, thumbs and grapples is fast and easy, the company says. The model on display at ConExpo 2026 was equipped with LiuGong’s G22 hammer.

The 925F CR can also be spec'd with a thumb and with or without a blade.

Cast steel ends in the stick nose, as well as boom and arm components, enhance durability in demanding environments, while centralized grease points ease daily maintenance, according to LiuGong.

Excavator Market Pulse

Excavators are the third-highest selling product category in the U.S., behind compact track loaders and mini excavators. More than 15,000 new financed units were sold from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026, according to Fusable’s latest EDA equipment finance data

The top three excavator manufacturers, Cat, Deere and Komatsu, collectively account for nearly two-thirds of all new financed sales. China-based LiuGong remains a small player in the U.S. market, with less than 1% of excavator sales during the period.
