The latest wheel tractor scraper in Kress’ lineup isn’t designed from scratch, rather it's based on a licensed design of Caterpillar’s discontinued 613G.
Cat launched the 613 in 1969, introducing upgraded models until 2008. Production ceased in 2010, just two years after the launch of the G Series, with Cat citing decreasing demand for the smaller size class.
The revamped 11-cubic-yard-capacity scraper touts an upgraded cab and emissions technology, as well as durability and efficiency updates for increased productivity on large-scale earthmoving projects.
A 202-horsepower Cat C7.1 Tier 4 Final diesel engine and integrated Cat powertrain power the K13, delivering 5% more horsepower than the 613G and 8% over the 613C, according to Kress. An updated hydraulic system features a new tank design, plus hydraulically controlled brakes, pumps and valves to enhance machine performance.
Kress also gave the K13 an updated and simplified elevator design that is more robust while using fewer parts for easier maintenance. The new heavy-duty elevator pump runs at higher speeds for faster loading cycles. A large capacity fuel tank allows for 10 to 12 hours of operation.
The cab is 30% larger for more comfort and visibility to the jobsite. It comes equipped with heat, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio and a rotating seat with ergonomic controls. A l7-inch Kress IQAN touchscreen replaces the gauge cluster, keeping operators informed about machine operation and critical health alerts.

Harnesses have been coated in polyurethane for weather resistance and durability.
Optional features include fully automated grade control; WAVS camera system; ProductLink; LED headlights and work lights; active seat; upgraded radio with Bluetooth, USB and CD; fenders; ground engaging teeth and more.
Additional configuration options designed to increase utilization include:
- Custom rear dump body
- Water tank/water wagon
- Hydrostatic rear drive (Not available on standard K13 WTS)
The Kress K13 is sold and serviced by Cat dealers. Parts for the K13 can be ordered through Kress Corporation or Cat.
