A couple of days we ago, we shared with you a very cool GIF that compiled the years of construction that went into the new One World Trade Center tower in New York City into just about 30 seconds. And now we’ve come across some photos taken at the site while the 1,776-foot-tall tower was still under construction.
Posted by Reddit user hailstate41 to the image sharing site Imgur, the photos provide an extremely rare behind the scenes look as construction of the 104-story building took place. Construction is nearly complete—the spire was mounted back in May— on the structure with a scheduled open date of January 2014. It’s hard to tell when exactly these photos were taken, but the building looks to only be about three quarters of the way done. Some of the photos come from the 39th floor.
Of the opportunity to tour the site, hailstate41 wrote, “I’m in Building Construction Science at Mississippi State and a guy who graduated from here lives in NYC and new one of the [project managers] from Tishman Construction; we were really lucky.” Be sure to check out hailstate41’s full gallery of photos from the site by clicking here.
