2027 Ford F-150 Revealed: First-Ever Carhartt Edition, Lower-Priced Off-Roaders

After revealing the first-ever Super Duty Carhartt edition, Ford is also bringing the workwear retailer’s design elements to its most-popular pickup truck, the F-150.

The 2027 F-150s will arrive with choice of eight trims and four engines, including a new standard V6, a V8 and a 3.5-liter hybrid. The Carhartt edition will be available for 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models.

The company is also offering lower-priced “entry-level” Tremor and Raptor versions with fewer frills but with standard heavy off-road features.

Four trims will be getting new grille and wheel designs: XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.

And the new hands-free “BlueCruise with Towing” will be available for all 2027 F-150s equipped with BlueCruise.

The First F-150 Carhartt

FordThe 2027 Super-Duty Carhartt was revealed earlier this year. Ford is also releasing an F-150 version in the first of its planned multiyear collaboration with the fellow historic Detroit-based company.

The 2027 F-150 Carhartt package will cost an extra $4,195 on the XLT for a starting MSRP of $62,660, not including destination and delivery fees and taxes. Ford has begun taking orders for the F-150 Carhartt, with deliveries expected in early 2027.

Ford lists the following features for the new design:

• 20-inch wheels, fender vents and badging with the Carhartt logo.
• Lower rocker and tailgate graphic.
• Signature headlamps and a cowl hood.
• Modified grille, dual exhaust and off-road running boards.
• Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner.
• Two-toned Carhartt-themed seat covers.
• Updated door trim panels, center console lid and steering wheel with accent stitching.
• All-weather floor mats with Carhartt logo.

The 2027 F-150s get four engine choices, starting with a new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6.

Ford says the new 325-horsepower engine achieves up to an 11% torque increase over the 2.7-liter V6 it’s replacing, for a maximum 400 pound-feet. Max towing is 8,400 pounds, and max payload is 1,755 pounds.

The 5.0-liter V8 is now available across the entire lineup, returning to the King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023. It delivers 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque on the two upscale trims.

For even more torque, Ford offers the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 at 500 pound-feet of pulling power. It can deliver 13,500 pounds of towing capacity.

And for max pulling force, Ford gave its 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid 570 pound-feet of torque. It’s also available with a 7.2 kW onboard generator.

Noting that not all who want to venture off road can afford all the bells and whistles of Ford’s Tremor and Raptor, the company is rolling out what it calls “entry-level” versions at a lower price.

The new versions skip some of the luxuries but keep the trims’ off-road hardware.

The entry-level Tremor is based on the STX trim with an STX steering wheel. To achieve its $5,300 lower price, Ford makes the following changes:

• Manual air conditioning replaces dual-zone climate control.
• Front seats have no heating.
• Six-speaker stereo instead of eight-speaker B&O sound system.
• No off-road running boards.
• Fixed rear glass replaces power sliding rear window.

The entry-level Raptor also sacrifices some luxuries with the removal of the following: head-up display, fog lamps, 2kW Pro Power Onboard capability, Mobile Office package, power passenger seat, and under-seat storage.

The new $4,000-lower-priced version gets a manual-tilt steering column instead of power adjustment and an eight-speaker stereo instead of the 14-speaker B&O system.

Hands-Free Towing

“This game-changing capability redefines the towing experience, whether you're hauling equipment to a job site or pulling a camper to the lake,” the company says. 

The system lets you take your hands off the steering wheel while towing “on more than 130,000 miles of pre-qualified divided highways called Blue Zones,” according to Ford.

The company is careful to note that the system is designed to be used responsibly and for drivers to not take their eyes off the road. Ford added these safety elements into BlueCruise with Towing:

• Unique trailer profile must be created with accurate dimensions for what is being towed.
• Trailer-sway monitoring — Truck automatically slows, limits speed or transitions to hands-on driving when it detects persistent trailer sway.
• Speed limiter — Top towing speed limit of 75 mph.
• Continuous weight detection — System won’t work if combined vehicle and trailer weight exceeds the allowed weight at any time.
• Continuous tire-pressure detection — System won’t work if the TPM warning light is on.
• Only works in Blue Zones on designated sections of controlled-access highways in U.S. and Canada.
• Lane changes need to be made manually while towing.
• In-Lane Repositioning disabled while towing.
• Construction zone detection — Drivers must put their hands back on the wheel when the system detects a construction zone. 

Ford is making the technology available for all 2027 F-150s equipped with BlueCruise.

“Those with an active BlueCruise subscription on the vehicle don't have to pay extra to use BlueCruise with Towing,” the company says.
