Updated Sep 14, 2021

We'd like to introduce you to James A. Rogers Excavating of Little Rock, Arkansas, one of our 2021 Equipment World Contractor of the Year finalists.

James A. Rogers Excavating has been a fixture in Little Rock and the surrounding area since its founding in 1962. The company, with revenues of $9 million a year, performs earthwork, pipe laying, demolition, site development for commercial, residential and government projects.

In 2015, Chris Meyer purchased the company from his grandfather, James A. Rogers, who started the company. Today, it remains a family company, with Meyer’s father, mother and brother working at the firm. Under his leadership the company doubled its annual revenues.

In this video, Chris Meyer talks about his creative way of helping to train young workers, making the leap into 3D machine control and his advice for contractors just getting started in the construction business.

The Equipment World Contractor of the Year program, now in its 21st year, has been sponsored by Caterpillar since its start. It recognizes contractors who display the highest standards of business acumen, equipment management expertise, attention to safety and community involvement.
