Vacuum excavators retrieve both wet and dry material
Vermeer and McLaughlin have partnered to introduce a line of 500-gallon vacuum excavators capable of hydro-excavation and retrieving both wet and dry spoil. Each model has an engine idle-down mode to automatically reduce the engine to idle when water is not in use. Pressing the reduction tool’s trigger returns the engine to its normal working range and full vacuum. An in-tank cleanout system washes the tank clean after dumping and eliminates manual cleaning. The V500, V500LT and V500LTHD are available with a 36- or 49-horsepower diesel engine and a 10,000- or 12,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating.
Heavyweight compact track loader treads lightly with 4.2 psi of ground pressure
With a rated-operating capacity of 3,200 pounds, Bobcat’s largest compact track loader – the T320 – packs a 92-horsepower liquid-cooled diesel engine and rugged rubber tracks needed for tough pushing, digging and grading. The 18-inch-wide track system provides extra traction, flotation and 4.2 psi of ground pressure for minimal ground disturbance. The T320 has a lift height of 10 feet 9 inches that follows a vertical lift path, allowing it to load trucks easily. Low-profile lift arms give the operator an adequate view of the attachment and work area.
Fork-mounted mechanical delivery system places grout or masonry mortar efficiently
Working with a telehandler or a forklift, Stone Construction Equipment’s Groutzilla Placement System eliminates the labor-intensive “bucket” method and provides a low cost alternative to grout pumps. The Groutzilla system handles almost any slump, filling multiple courses of block spanning 20 feet or more. The patented self-wiping Talet auger system and 8-foot reinforced rubber discharge hose offer optimal discharge control, minimal wasted material and easy clean up. A three-position lock controls the heavy-duty hopper, allowing it to turn 360 degrees for cleaning and filling, 180 degrees for grout placement and lock into place for transport.
Monitor and analyze earthmoving machine productivity
Trimble’s Productivity Module allows contractors to assess project status, optimize machine use and increase fleet productivity. As a component of Trimble SiteVision Office version 7.0, the module compiles and indexes data collected on the machines using the Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System and the CCS900 Compaction Control System. Collected data includes mapping of graded areas and terrain logging of all excavated data, as well as last-pass information and machine-specific productivity statistics. Data can then be queried for productivity statistics and progress volume information based on time, specific machine or operating area.
Grinder produces materials to exact specifications
Powered by a Caterpillar C27 engine with 1,050 horsepower, Peterson’s 5710C horizontal grinder has a 60- by 44-inch feed opening along with Peterson’s high lift feed roll to reduce a wide range of material, including stumps. The grinder’s square-shaft rotor and large grate area produce materials to exact specifications. Setting the Impact Release System in detent mode provides consistent product sizing, and switching to the floating anvil mode allows for a primary reduction with reduced fuel consumption and protection from contaminated feedstocks. The 5710C also includes the new Adaptive Control System with fault indicators and a fully adjustable feed system.
Compact crusher reduces granite, slate, coal or limestone
Extec’s compact X38 SBS crusher uses a Telsmith 38SBS cone unit for crushing speeds of up to 780 rpm. A Cat C-9 diesel engine powers the X38, offering 350 horsepower for tough quarry applications. The crusher’s compact size enables operation in constrained environments, while rugged tracks and an optional transport bogie provide full mobility. Like its larger brother – the X44 – the X38 has an optional re-circulation system to ensure consistently sized end products. Combining this system with a metal detector in the feed hopper maximizes crushing efficiency and eliminates the need for further crushing stages.
Low-noise horizontal directional drill powers through tough conditions
As an extended-range, self-contained machine with 30,000 pounds of pullback, Ditch Witch’s JT3020 Mach 1 horizontal directional drill has the capacity to bore pilot holes up to 4.5 inches and backream diameters up to 12 inches. The JT3020’s fluid pump delivers 42-viscosity drilling fluid at 50 gallons per minute for drilling efficiency. Its 148-horsepower engine automatically turns the horsepower up to power through tough drilling conditions, while emitting less than 82 decibels audible to the operator’s ear. Other features include a rack-and-pinion thrust drive and a redesigned anchor system to support the entire operation.
Asphalt spreader comes in two adjustable sizes
Blue Diamond’s asphalt spreader attaches quickly to any skid steer or tractor with a universal-style mount. Simply dump the asphalt into the area being repaired and follow behind with the spreader, which levels it off for the roller to finish. Two sizes are available, with one adjusting from 18 to 30 inches and another adjusting from 36 to 48 inches. Additional features include an adjustable finish height from zero to 6 inches, high temperature plastic on the blade surface for easy clean up and bolt-on cutting edges.
Pipe lift handles a wide range of sizes without extra equipment
Lift and move 3- to 100-inch outside diameter pipe with Kenco’s Pipe Lift while remaining inside the cab and eliminating the need for a laborer on the ground. Instead of using slings and cables, the Pipe Lift’s actuator uses the power of gravity to allow the scissor action of the tongs to clamp securely on PVC, iron or concrete pipe. The Pipe Lift requires no additional hydraulics and its narrow profile eases pipe removal from tight trenches.
Steel track system’s running-double pivot design improves maneuverability
The F-Series steel track system by Loegering Manufacturing maintains traction while increasing flotation. This over-the-tire steel track system provides pad-to-ground contact for maximum flotation and features a smooth running-double pivot design for easy maneuverability. Hammer-forged steel pads guard against wear with threaded Dura Pins and offer simple replacement. Each component is individually hardened prior to assembly to increase durability and longevity.
Re-engineered carbide tips increase life of asphalt cutting tools
Kennametal’s Road Razor RZ Series of road planing tools each feature re-engineered carbide tips for longer tool life and less chipping in hard cutting conditions. A more precise and balanced body configuration improves tool rotation. A pre-compressed retainer clip and a pre-installed washer allows for easy installation, saving downtime and reducing carbide fractures. The series has eight styles available with carbide tips of different lengths, diameters, shapes and grades of hardness for various asphalt conditions. Two body styles, one with a puller groove to assist in tool removal and another without, are also available.
