Caterpillar to increase investment in China
Caterpillar announced Friday the company is working on a long-term plan to increase its investment in China. Stuart Levenick, vice president of Caterpillar, said the company hopes to quadruple sales in China over the next decade. Caterpillar is expected to unveil the details of its plan in November.
Companies to present at research conference
Manitowoc announced Friday it will participate in the Bear-Stearns 12th annual Global Credit Research Conference, which will be held in New York June 3-4. Tim Wood, vice president and CFO, will make a presentation June 3. JLG Industries is expected to make a presentation June 4.

Volvo Rents signs new franchises
Volvo Construction Equipment Rents announced May 30 the signing of two new franchises, one in Little Rock, Ark., and another in Rochester, N.Y. The independently owned centers will open within a few months.

Sennebogen appoints new president
Handler manufacturer Sennebogen announced the appointment of Constantino Lannes as president on May 20. Previously, Lannes worked for Terex, where he served as vice president of compact and material handling equipment. As part of his new position, Lannes will be responsible for expanding the company’s distributor network and increasing its North American market.
Hanson named Arnco territory sales manager
Mathew R. Hanson was recently named territory sales manager for Arnco. Hanson will be responsible for sales in a 10-state region that includes Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
Modine chairman to retire
Modine Manufacturing announced May 22 that Donald R. Johnson, its chairman and CEO, plans to retire at the end of June. Johnson, who has worked for Modine for 25 years, began his career as a plant manager at the company’s McHenry, Ill., facility.
Hitachi appoints sales manager of new venture
Hitachi Construction Machinery recently appointed Hemmo Luuyerink sales manager of the new Hitachi-Sumitomo joint venture. He replaces Bert van Dorth, director of international sales, who decided to retire after 35 years in the industry.
