Granite subsidiary Kenny Construction, awarded $46 million contract for Navy Pier Flyover project

[CC BY 2.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons.Granite announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Kenny Construction Co., was awarded a $46 million contract for the Chicago Navy Pier Flyover‘s Lakefront Trail Project Phase III.

The project is in its final phase of construction for the multi-use path, which will reduce congestion and improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians near the Navy Pier and Oak Street Beach.

Construction of Phase III will begin at the southern end of the Phase II project, which is also being constructed by Kenny Construction, and extends through the existing bridge houses and across the Chicago River by the Lake Shore Drive bascule bridge.

The work includes structural and mechanical rehabilitation of the bascule bridge, structural and architectural modifications to the bridge houses, installation of new dolphin structures, and micropile deep foundations, as well as painting the bridge.
