Genie is expanding its family of rough-terrain scissor lifts to introduce a new electric scissor series designed to increase operator efficiencies both indoors and outdoors.
The three new scissor lifts (GS-2669 DC, GS-3369 DC and GS-4069 DC) offer similar increased capacity and jobsite performance to that of the RT family, but now in an electric model. The GS-4069 DC scissor will be seen and demonstrated for the first time at the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium, Nov. 8– 9, in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The GS-4069 DC scissor is the world’s first 40-foot full drive-height electric scissor lift in its clas, according to Genie. The scissor designed to offer increased operator productivity and increased uptime while on the jobsite. The GS-2669 DC and the GS-3369 DC also offer the full drive height feature.
“Genie was the first to offer AC electric drive technology on our groundbreaking Z 40/23N articulating boom. Now, we have brought this innovation to our exceptional line of electric rough terrain scissor lifts,” said Jeff Weido, Terex AWP senior product manager, in a written statement about the new scissor lifts. “These models offer increased energy efficiency, productivity, reliability, and durability because the AC drive motors are now sealed, all of which are aimed to reduce maintenance and service costs.”
The addition of electric drive motors provides emissions-free performance in enclosed buildings. Users are able to charge the scissor lifts overnight so they are ready to go the next morning, thus extending their use for the entire length of the project.
“Diesel deliveries on jobsites can cost upwards of $5 per gallon. Using electric scissor lifts provide a huge savings; especially those that stay on the jobsite from start to finish. This can be significant for jobs that last up to a year. It’s simply a great product for the rental market,” said Weido.
Rough terrain capability allows the scissor series to be used both indoors where there is emissions and noise sensitivity, as well as outdoors for a number of applications. All three scissor lifts are capable of driving through dirt, sand and mud. Non-marking rough terrain tires are standard with turf tires as optional.
A standard front active oscillating axle helps keep all four wheels on the ground during operation, providing increased machine control and traction when going over hills and obstacles. The patented full-time oscillating axle automatically senses the terrain and adjusts the axle position based on ground conditions, regardless of the scissor’s position.
Stowed drive speed is recorded at 4.5 mph. “This is a 50 percent increase over our previous DC models and 30 percent over our IC rough terrain models,” said Weido. Active speed control provides the driver with excellent control of the machine when maneuvering on a jobsite.
On ANSI models, these new scissor lifts provide an increased platform work space of 13 percent. Lifting capacity remains at 1,500 pounds on the GS-2669 DC, 1,000 pounds on the GS-3369 DC and 800 pounds on the GS-4069 DC. An industry-leading five ft extension deck provides operators with increased work platform space.
Global production for the new DC scissor lifts is planned for Q1 2012.
