Former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has joined infrastructure-focused investment firm Meridiam, the company announced on Tuesday.
LaHood, who served as Secretary of Transportation from 2009 until 2013, is now a senior advisor to Meridiam North America. He is responsible for providing strategic guidance to the firm.
Meridiamâs CEO and founding partner Thierry Deau said the company will benefit from the knowledge LaHood brings with him.
âWe are honored Secretary LaHood has decided to join Meridiam,â Deau said in a prepared statement. âHis broad experience in transportation and infrastructure in the United States will be a valuable asset to the company.â
This is not the first infrastructure-focused organization LaHood has joined since leaving his post in the DOT. Earlier this year, he became a co-chair for Building Americaâs Future (BAF). He has also continued to advocate for infrastructure investment by pushing for a gas tax hike, commenting on the Metro-North derailment in December and offering insight on the new highway bill.
