Revealed at Bauma 2025, Steelwrist has brought its SQ40 automatic quick coupler for mini excavators to the U.S. with several upgrades.
As the company's smallest automatic coupler, the SQ40 enables quick changes of attachments without the operator leaving the cab for excavators of 2 to 7 metric tons. The SQ40 also works with tiltrotators, which enable increased maneuverability of attachments.
Upgrades to the SQ40 include a new coupling system providing 40% more hydraulic-flow area compared to a standard 3/8-inch coupling. This enables flow up to 18.5 gallons per minute.
Steelwrist has also added a new six-pin H6 electrical connector that comes fully integrated into the locking wedge and features a molded design to ensure it is environmentally sealed. The H6 connector sports large contact surfaces, including hardened phosphor bronze cores for improved corrosion resistance, and strong spring-loaded pins for improved transmission and high current capabilities.
The SQ40 follows the symmetrical S40 standard, allowing contractors to continue using their existing attachments and easily upgrade from S to SQ via hose routing and installation of male couplings integrated into the rear tool shaft. Flexible hose routing also means the SQ40 can be adapted to many hydraulic attachments.
Steelwrist also recently rolled out the new XTR10 tiltrotator for excavators weighing 13,200 to 22,000 pounds.
Replacing the X12, the new model represents the latest addition to Steelwrist’s third-generation tiltrotator lineup, which includes the XTR2, XTR10, XTR15, XTR20 and XTR23.
