General Motors revealed Thursday its all-new 2015 Chevrolet and GMC heavy duty pickups.
A dual unveiling was held at both the State Fair of Texas and the GM assembly plant in Flint, Mich.
GM says the Silverado HD and Sierra HD the feature highest payload – 7,374 pounds – and the highest conventional trailering rating – 19,600 pounds – in its segment.
Silverado HD’s exterior got an aerodynamic makeover, which also reduced wind noise, and a reengineered grille improves airflow and cooling for more consistent power.

(Photo by Mike Stone for GMC)Set to be available in the first half of 2014, the trucks will come standard with a 6.0-liter gasoline V-8 engine that produces 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque in 2500-series models, and 322 hp on 3500 models, and will be matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Additional new and enhanced features for the 2015 Silverado and Sierra HDs include a CornerStep rear bumper, EZ Lift and Lower tailgate, standard upper tie-downs and other features that make cargo handling easier; standard StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control on all models, including 3500HD dually; integrated cruise control, auto grade braking and diesel exhaust braking (diesel models), for greater driving control and reduced brake wear on grades; enhanced cooling airflow, which enables the Duramax turbo diesel and 6.0L gas engine to better maintain full power, even under heavy loads and high ambient temperatures.
A 6.0L bi-fuel V-8, which can run on either gasoline or compressed natural gas, will be available on regular-cab, crew-cab and new double-cab Silverado 2500 and 3500 models.
Ford also unveiled its plans for the updated F-450 Super Duty line Thursday.
