Former VP Gore keynotes at Greenbuild conference

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced former Vice President and environmental activist Al Gore as keynote speaker for this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. The expo will be held November 11-13, 2009, in Phoenix Arizona.

Gore’s keynote address will kick off the conference with the Opening Keynote and Celebration at Chase Field in Phoenix. Gore’s address will be followed by a performance from environmental activist and musician Sheryl Crow and an address from Rick Fedrizzi, USGBC president, CEO and founding chair.

Greenbuild offers three days of educational programming, workshops and more than 1,700 exhibits that explore new products, technologies and ideas for green building. The conference will feature more than 100 educational sessions, LEED and Education Provider workshops, off-site educational sessions, a two-day Residential Summit, the World Green Building Council International Congress and tours of local green building sites in Arizona.

Early registration for Greenbuild 2009 ends September 15, 2009, and on-site registration is allowed. Registration for the full conference and expo for USGBC members is $600 for early registration and $700 for late registration. Non-member fees are $775 for early registration and $975 for late registration. Students can register for $225 for both early and late registration. Rates also are available for registration for certain days and events. The first 5,000 to register will receive a copy of Gore’s latest book, Our Choice.
