Product Focus: Service trucks

Truck body available with four different cranes
The Feterl 14-foot, heavy-duty crane body fits on a 33,000-pound GVW truck. It features two hydraulic up-down outriggers and the curb side has a hydraulic in-out function. Compartments are 24 inches deep by 56 inches high with stainless steel hinges. Standard features include pressurized compartments, automotive weather stripping and the company’s Gang Lock. A full 50-inch deck area has 1/8-inch tread plates throughout. This body is available with a 6,000-, 8,000-, 10,000- or 12,000-pound crane.

Bodies for cab-chassis and low-cab-forward applications
Knapheide Manufacturing has extended its KUV body line with the KUV-CC (cab chassis) and KUV-LCF (low cab forward) bodies. The units feature outside-accessible storage compartments, a covered cargo area, electro-deposition prime paint, one-piece side compartment design, manual or keyless security systems, pry-proof hinges and conduit chutes. The cab-chassis model can include 4-by-4s, extended cabs and crew cabs.

Reach a full 28 feet
Stellar’s 6628 telescopic crane offers 28 feet of hydraulic reach with a maximum lifting capacity of 6,000 pounds, or 38,000 foot-pounds. The crane uses a planetary winch system with a hydraulic/mechanical brake system. It has a 60-foot-per-minute winch speed and a maximum hydraulic reach of 28 feet from the centerline of the crane. The crane’s hexagonal tube boom construction helps eliminate boom flex and side-to-side movement.

Lock bolt construction reduces welds
The ChallengerX service body by Stahl is corrosion-resistant, made out of all galvanneal steel. The lock bolt construction reduces 80 percent of the welding of conventional service bodies, thus reducing the places where rust can begin, according to the com-pany. The body has a clip-on door seal for improved protection against water leaks, a galvanneal steel rear step bumper, concealed door hinges for added security and a removable lift-and-lock-style tailgate.

Series has four body types
The Signature Series from Maintainer comes in four body types: a 6000 Series tower crane on an 11-foot body, a 10000 Series crane on an 11-foot body, a 12000 Series crane on a 14-foot body and a 2-ton lube body. The 6000 Series has a 6,350-pound hexagonal boom crane with 24 feet of reach, hydraulic outriggers, a 59-inch oxy/act apartment, a 26-inch work bench bumper with vise mount, four tie downs, closed-center load sensing hydraulic system, 40-cfm hydraulic air compressor and the company’s EZ Latch Aluma Drawer system. All of the bodies feature 12-GA galvannealed A60 steel, and 3/16-inch single piece aluminum doors.

More than 6,500 pounds of available payload
Pate Equipment’s Captivator service body comes standard with a Cobra 8805 hydraulic crane with remote proportional control and hydraulic out and down outriggers. Other features include a 40-cfm Vanair NK40 hydraulic screw air compressor, a Mobile Power MPI welder/quick start and a Xantrex Prowatt 1750 inverter. The unit also has a rear sliding top for dry work space, a mechanic’s locking system so one turn of the handle secures all side compartments and automotive-style weather stripping for drier compartments.
