Kobelco has introduced two new mid-size SR-Series excavator models, both of which offer short rear swing capabilities and increased power.

Both machines are powered by a 70-horsepower, turbocharged Yanmar 4TNV98CT diesel that is Tier 4 Final certified and does not require the use of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Kobelco says the new engine beings a power output increase of about 28 percent.

Lifting capacity on the SK75SR-7 is 3,320 pounds, a 27-percent increase over the SK75SR-3E, while the SK85CS-7 has 3,570 pounds of capacity, an 18-percent increase over the SK85CS-3E.

Bucket digging force has increased on these new machines, up 37 percent to 14,070 pounds. Arm digging speed has also increased, up 37 percent from the previous models.

The result, Kobelco says is a 15-percent reduction in cycle times for both new models.

You can see more specs in the sidebar.

Kobelco says the machines combine a compact design with a long maximum digging reach of 19 feet, allowing for “easy maneuverability and a broad working range.”

Inside the cab, operators will find an ergonomic lever and air ride suspension seat, both standard. The machines feature a new control layout with a jog dial and a 10-inch color display. This monitor shows views from rear, left- and right-side camera views in full- and split-screen.
