Komatsu added a parallel-lift tool carrier, the WA320PT-5 to its wheel loader lineup. Weighing 32,161 pounds, the machine sports a 166-horsepower engine and an electronically controlled hydrostatic transmission. Variable shift control lets the operator set his maximum speed from 2.5 to 8.1 mph for a better match to hydraulic speed in applications such as tight V-cycle truck loading. The 3.5-cubic-yard bucket attacks the pile with 27,225 pounds of breakout force and attaches and detaches with a hydraulically activated quick coupler. The WA320PT-5 travels up to 23.6 mph and clears the truck rails at a dumping height of 8 feet 10 inches. The parallel-lift configuration keeps the bucket or forks level throughout the boom’s arc so material won’t spill out of the bucket or slide on the forks.
