PHOTOS: This 1985 D350 SE prototype is the first Ram pickup with a Cummins diesel engine

1985 Ram 250 Cummins prototype

While we were walking around the ICUEE show floor a few weeks back, we happened upon this beauty: the very first Ram pickup with a Cummins diesel. This 1985 Ram D350 SE was a prototype built to test out a Cummins B59. The B59 was a 12-valve, 5.9-liter inline-six that produced 400 lb.-ft. of torque. To celebrate the engine and pickup that gained them the mindshare of consumers that the company hadn’t yet enjoyed until its partnership with Ram, this prototype 350 was fully restored back in March and has been making the rounds across the country. We definitely felt lucky to meet it in person. Check out the photos below.
