Construction and agricultural equipment maker New Holland has informed the National Biodiesel Board that it approves the use of up to B20 fuel blends (20 percent biodiesel/ 80 percent petroleum-based diesel) on all current equipment with New Holland engines.
Biodiesel is produced from oilseed crops, primarily soybeans in the United States and canola in Canada, and animal fats. It can be blended with conventional diesel. New Holland says the biodiesel must meet specified industry standard for fuel quality to ensure optimum engine performance and durability.
According to Joe Jobe, chief executive officer of NBB, New Holland is the first OEM to specifically say it approves use of B20 in its engines.
