Cat launches 986K loader with redesigned cab, STIC control

Calling the machine a “right-sized” loader, Caterpillar has introduced the 986K as a replacement to its legacy 988F.

The 986K weighs less and is shorter than Cat’s 988K loaders and the company says the machine is perfectly matched to load Cat 40- to 61-ton articulated and rigid-frame trucks. A new Aggregate Handler configuration features an 11-cubic-yard bucket with additional counterweight for high volume loading of highway trucks in fewer passes.

The machine also features a redesigned cab with Cat STIC steer and Cat’s Production Measurement system.

Barko unveils Strong-Arm Grapples for its B-Series loaders

Barko has designed its new Strong-Arm Grapples with 360-degree continuous rotation, strong clamping force and faster arm speed, the company says.

The grapples consist of three models and work with Barko B-Series loaders. The models – 4250, 4850 and 5250 – are named for their maximum opening widths of 42, 48.1 and 52.1 inches, respectively, and their 50,000-pound lift capacity.

The hydraulic motor is designed to maximize hydraulic flow for arm speed and production. The grapples are made of high-tensile, wear-resistant steel with hard face welding on the arm tips.

Bobcat intros new undercarriage on M2-Series T870 CTLs

The M2-Series T870 compact track loader is the first Bobcat machine equipped with the company’s new 5-Link torsion suspension undercarriage.

The undercarriage, with its fifth link on the rear axle, is designed to increase durability, reduce noise and vibration, and improve performance and operator comfort.

Bobcat’s third-generation undercarriage has a new drive motor that is easier to maintain, and its outer bearing is continuously lubricated by oil from the loader’s hydraulic system. The diameter of the drive shaft inside the gear box has been increased 15 percent to make it more durable, the company says.
