Chinese workers build a 15-story hotel in 6 days

Ark Hotel ChinaLate last month, construction began on Sky City, a 2,749-foot Chinese skyscraper that will become the world’s tallest building. But what’s even more remarkable than its immense size is the fact that Sky City is expected to be complete at some point in the next seven or 10 months. The current world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, was built in five years.

If you’re wondering whether or not that type of pace is possible, or how that pace is possible, the video below provides a bit of insight. It’s a time lapse video chronicling the six days in 2010 that it took to build the 15-story Ark Hotel. The Chinese take advantage of prefabrication in a big way. Huge portions of the building are preassembled in a factory and then simply put together at the site. Check out the dizzying pace the method allows below.
