Closer Look: The Huddig 1370 Cable, An All-in-One Loader, Excavator and Lift

A decal on the window of the Huddig 1370 Cable at the recent Public Works Expo read, “Definitely NOT a backhoe.”

So, what the heck is a Huddig?

The do-anything machine, powered by a 160-horsepower Cummins Tier 4 Final diesel engine, looks like a combination loader-excavator-lift.

But Huddig says it can do so much more given its attachment versatility. Any attachment you can run on a 13-ton excavator can be operated on it, and you can travel as you operate. The hydraulic flow can be adjusted from 0 to 100 percent to each line, allowing for maximum control and sensitivity, the company says. An optional remote control allows for operation in unsafe environments.

“The possibilities are endless with this machine,” says Midwest Sales Manager Chad Shaw.

Shaw gave Equipment World a tour of the 1370 Cable. To get a closer look, check out our video above.

Additional key features include:

  • Hydrostatic transmission for smooth operation while maintaining traction

  • New working basket with stepless leveling for LIFT 1420B and 2000B

  • Articulated steering, an oscillating center pivot and a low center of gravity for work in all types of terrain

  • Heavy-duty excavator unit for digging and pole handling

The aerial lift on the Cable version can lift two people up to 72 feet for the service, maintenance and new construction of power lines and cable plowing, the company says. Starting in 2026, a fully electrically isolated option will be offered.

The Huddig 1370 is also available in plug-in hybrid version. It can run solely on battery power for two to four hours, depending on the application.
