ConExpo-Con/Agg, IFPE 2011 will ‘repurpose’ show materials

ConExpo-Con/Agg 2011 and IFPE 2011 are taking recycling a step further in a new partnership that promotes re-distribution and re-use of discarded show materials. The “Repurpose AMERICA program presented by DoppstadtUS” complements and completes the recycling process.

ConExpo-Con/Agg 2011 and IFPE 2011 will be held March 22-26, 2011 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Repurpose AMERICA is a program of Greener Vegas, a nonprofit organization that collects unwanted non-recyclable products and materials and repurposes them for donation to local schools, teachers, community associations and other nonprofit groups. It will work with the shows and show producer Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), along with the Las Vegas Convention Center and show general contractor GES, during the waste-collection process. Discarded show materials that are removed and repurposed include signage, banners, foamboard and magnetic signs; bags and bag stuffing materials; registration materials; and excess publications and literature.

“Supporting the ConExpo-Con/Agg Repurpose AMERICA recycling program through our sponsorship investment is a perfect partnership to demonstrate the broad scope of our equipment,” explained Hugh Fagan, DoppstadtUS sales director. “This is a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of material recovery at this show, and we’re proud to be associated with it.”

Megan Tanel, AEM vice president exhibitions and events, stated, “Continuing on the success of our recycling program from 2008, the Repurpose AMERICA program makes recycling and repurposing much more hassle-free. We have worked with them before and we commend them as well as GES and the Las Vegas Convention Center for facilitating the process.”
