Sany’s New Excavator, First CTL & Machine Control?! ConExpo 2026 Walkaround

Sany America is making a serious push with new iron and new tech. In this video, we break down the all-new SY235 excavator and the company’s first-ever compact track loader — plus a closer look at their new machine control platform.

With a 73-HP Yanmar engine and weighing 10,318 pounds, the ST230V compact track loader is easily transportable with a standard truck and trailer. The design features a flip-up door for convenience and a cab designed with comfort in mind.

Attendees also checked out the brand new SY235H excavator on the floor at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026. The new excavator replaces the previous generation SY225.

â€śIt's very similar to the old 225, but the whole machine's been redesigned from the ground up,” Adam Francis, Product Specialist, Heavy Equipment, at Sany America, told Equipment World’s Bryan Furnace.

That means the SY235 features a new undercarriage, a new taller body style, a more adjustable cab, a new touchscreen display, and increased cooling power, all while using the same components—making it easy to service. New “Route Pilot” machine control allows for quick upgrades from 2D to 3D.

To learn more about the SY235, including its hydraulic upgrades and machine control capability, check out Furnace’s full interviews with Francis and Joey Pontibrand, North American Municipal Manager at Sany America, above.

What's going on, everyone? We're here at Khan Expo 2026 and we are in the Saini booth. We're here to talk about the brand new AC 235 excavator Seine first ever CTL. And we're going to talk about their machine control options. Let's go check it out. I'm here with Joey Pond Brian. And we are here to talk about Sony's first ever CTL.

 00;00;22;12 - 00;00;24;20

Bryan Furnace

Tell us a bit about it. What's this. So you guys are part.

 00;00;24;22 - 00;00;38;02

Joey Pontbriand

Yeah. So we're here looking at the ST2 30 V powered by Yanmar 73 horsepower machine. No Def being a 10,300 pound machine. It's very versatile.

 00;00;38;04 - 00;00;39;29

Bryan Furnace

Tell us a bit about the creature comforts in the cab.

 00;00;40;00 - 00;00;44;07

Joey Pontbriand

We have a fold up door.

 00;00;44;09 - 00;01;03;13

Joey Pontbriand

Which is really nice. It's super convenient. Yeah. Makes it easy in and out. When operating. You can flip that door up. You can see what's going on. If you're unloading on a trailer, things like that. Visibility really enhances. But inside it's a spacious cab. Real comfortable foot down arms, joystick controls, two speed automatic transmission, so everything, everything you could ask for.

 00;01;03;20 - 00;01;04;15

Joey Pontbriand

And, you know, like this.

 00;01;04;22 - 00;01;06;18

Bryan Furnace

Excellent. Well, thanks, Joey, I appreciate it.

 00;01;06;20 - 00;01;07;12

Joey Pontbriand

Yeah. No problem.

 00;01;07;13 - 00;01;12;03

Bryan Furnace

Let's go check out the AC. 235.

 00;01;12;06 - 00;01;28;24

Adam Francis

This year we're launching a new SY2 35 H. It's replacing our previous gen. 225. Okay. It's a whole new machine. There's any portfolio for weight wise operating weight engine. It's very similar to the old 225, but the whole machine's and redesign from the ground up. So new, new undercarriage, new body style. The body style is about eight inches taller in the past.

 00;01;28;24 - 00;01;47;08

Adam Francis

So with that we've been able to increase the cooling capacity of the machine. Same components as before. So all the serviceability around those has also been increased. In the cab is a huge change for us. So in the cab, a completely new cab for us. The seat itself has 18 different ways of adjustability. Wow. So the ability to move the joysticks up and down in the bend of the seat, move the seat forward backwards, tip it, adjust the cushion.

 00;01;47;08 - 00;01;55;21

Adam Francis

All of that is all very adjustable along with heating cooling functionality as well. Also, the new display in the cab two displays, now a ten inch touchscreen display that's a.

 00;01;55;21 - 00;01;56;12

Bryan Furnace

Good size screen.

 00;01;56;15 - 00;02;05;16

Adam Francis

Most of the machine controls are now integrated there, so your Bluetooth, your radio, your controls, if you want to adjust the flow and pressure of your hydraulic auxiliary hydraulics, it's all done in the display.

 00;02;05;18 - 00;02;07;16

Bryan Furnace

I don't know what we're getting out of the machine and going out.

 00;02;07;16 - 00;02;21;14

Adam Francis

You're not wrenching on it. You're adjusting it on a slider and the display is super easy. 360 cameras are in there as well. Fault codes and all that. It'll show you the fault codes. You can call the service tech and say exactly what's going on. You don't need to run a diagnostic computer to understand all that like you used to in the past.

 00;02;21;14 - 00;02;37;10

Adam Francis

Yeah, a lot of great functionality in the cab. All new design for swell from a standard configuration hydraulically to this machine has been updated. So you're gonna have your high flow primary circuit at like 95 gallons per minute. We have a secondary auxiliary line, but we're trying to avoid referring to. Is that because we're calling it a rotate circuit.

 00;02;37;17 - 00;02;39;01

Bryan Furnace

Makes sense with the way the market's going.

 00;02;39;01 - 00;02;57;03

Adam Francis

Correct. The rotate circuit. The reason we don't call it secondary primary. It's it's completely isolated from the whole machine's hydraulic flow okay. So if you're running attachment like think like a shear that you have an open and close function, you run that off your primary the rotate. You can run off your rotate circuit. So as you're running the machine in a multifunction environment, you don't lose feedback for the machine.

 00;02;57;03 - 00;03;12;11

Adam Francis

It's much more smooth to operate because it's isolated. Yeah. Can you strains also on the ears if you're on a molten head or a high flow attachment, it's all plug and play. You don't have to worry about running those lines back to tank from the factory. It's really easy to throw anything you want on there. Fantastic. Yeah, so a lot of great options there from factory two bucket coupler.

 00;03;12;11 - 00;03;21;06

Adam Francis

We have standard configurations for our dealers. So again get it get it to you a good price point straight from the factory says it cost me a lot of money at the end.

 00;03;21;08 - 00;03;25;04

Bryan Furnace

So from what I understand, you guys have some machine control options as well. Can you tell us a bit about those?

 00;03;25;04 - 00;03;39;12

Adam Francis

Yeah. So for the last couple years we working on whole new product line is showcased on to our machines here at day one of them being the 235, the other 385 behind us as well. The product name is Route Pilot. So Route Pilot is our competitor product in the three D machine control space. Right now. It's an indicator system on our machines.

 00;03;39;12 - 00;03;59;26

Adam Francis

We're launching Automatic systems in 2027. So while both solutions for the customer, we have two different product offerings in regards to offer right now. So we have what we call our 2D to 3D software. And then we have our full 3D. The 2D to 3D software is really unique for us, which you're gonna have with other 2D machines largely in the market right now, is you're going to be able to take the bucket and bench the machine and create a very simple 2D projection to display.

 00;04;00;04 - 00;04;14;17

Adam Francis

That's normal. It's been around for years in the industry with ours, because our hardware is the same as a 3D. Not only do we know the machine bucket position, we also understand the machine itself. Geographic location on the job site. So now you go from doing a trench that's within the reach of the machine, you know, maybe ten, 15ft.

 00;04;14;19 - 00;04;17;05

Adam Francis

We'll do trenches up to 200m or about 600ft.

 00;04;17;05 - 00;04;19;17

Bryan Furnace

So no more reach out, touch, reach out, touch. Reach out to.

 00;04;19;24 - 00;04;38;06

Adam Francis

Create a 600ft long project. You work on that trench line the entire 600ft. Perfect. Correct. We also have the ability to upload a 2D project into the display and convert that to a simple 3D project. Wow. To take like a 2D, like, let's say you have a footer design for a new home build. Yep, we can take that footer design, use that to create a center line.

 00;04;38;08 - 00;04;55;23

Adam Francis

And then with that we can create you a custom complex 3D trench line within the display. Wow. You can get away from staking out the project almost completely. Yeah. And just do this all virtually in the display and then go ahead and work great for small contractors. And then because our 2D system is using the same hardwoods, the 3D, there's no having to change systems.

 00;04;55;23 - 00;05;00;27

Adam Francis

When you go from a 2D to a 3D. We just upgrade the software for you and within five minutes you have full 3D machine.

 00;05;00;27 - 00;05;03;25

Bryan Furnace

Wow. So no bringing the machine back to the shop. It's just all in the.

 00;05;03;25 - 00;05;12;08

Adam Francis

Field, all remote in. We'll update your software license. We'll make sure that it's all configured correctly, and then within five minutes, you're ready to go ahead and put that machine on a 3D site.

 00;05;12;10 - 00;05;13;11

Bryan Furnace

Fantastic.

 00;05;13;13 - 00;05;29;19

Adam Francis

From a 3D perspective, we have our own base stations, total station, rover, data collectors, all that. So for customers that are never been in the great control space before, they can get a full ecosystem from us and start their great control fleet with Sandy and roof pilot. Wow. The customers have invested heavily in other brands over the years.

 00;05;29;26 - 00;05;51;01

Adam Francis

We don't expect them to abandon that, right? There's a lot of money being invested there. They already have their systems in place. Absolutely. We validate our machines over the last year, fully on job sites with other OEM, manufacturers. From the great control aspect through that, we've received all consistently received that 1 or 3cm or plus or minus a 10th accuracy running not off our own base station, but running our base stations from other manufacturers.

 00;05;51;03 - 00;06;04;16

Adam Francis

So our customers are willing to run the mixed fleet. They don't need to abandon their investment. Yeah, they can now come to say, any purchase of the machine, purchase a great control system at a significantly more appealing price point. And integrate that right in with their fleet as it stands. Right. Fantastic. Well, great options there. Yeah.

 00;06;04;23 - 00;06;07;16

Bryan Furnace

So Adam, final question. If people want to know more where can they go.

 00;06;07;17 - 00;06;22;23

Adam Francis

Yeah. So on Sandy america.com right now you guys got a 235 a day online. You can get the spec sheet for the great control system. But after the show you go to Sandy america.com. You'll see a technology tab that's gonna be a just store website. That's we're going to find more about our technology system being the great control right now.

 00;06;22;26 - 00;06;32;18

Adam Francis

You're going to be able to find where it's being retailed. Along with more information about the precision levels, the file types it accepts, all that kind of stuff. So check the website after the show, go to the technology tab. That's what great control system will be there.

 00;06;32;18 - 00;06;33;29

Bryan Furnace

Excellent Adam, thank you so much.

 00;06;33;29 - 00;06;34;10

Adam Francis

Thank you.
