Cube Cities, a city visualization engine for the real estate industry, has put together a really cool video illustrating the power of its software by plotting the growth of Midtown Manhattan over the last 165 years. The one minute video flies through 16 decades, adding buildings to a map centered on the intersection of Central Park and Fifth Avenue.
As you’ll see in the video, the 1920 was an extremely busy time for contractors in New York City. As Cube Cities points out, the 1940s and 50s were slower while construction picked up pace again in the 1970s before slowing again in the 90s.
